Are these Dewalt tools good?

Was looking around for new tools to replace all my Craftsman. I'm not brand loyal but I choose all Dewalt since it can share batteries. Any other brands or models you think is better or more worth the money?

Also what you think of the Drill Doctor? My friend who owns a repair shop says it's good. My dad says it's shitty.

Wait for the costco deal on dewalt.  Its good stuff for the price.  I also like Milwaukee.  Only thing is batteries are very expensive

i have mostly makita stuff with the lighter and more compact 1.5ah batteries that have been solid for 5 years. i also have some smaller dewalt tools around the 9.6v range i think.

my friend that does construction has almost every dewalt tool that comes in the newer 20v XR and those are beastly and compact for the power it puts out. would recommend those over any other older dewalt or makita. amazon has them for pretty good prices.

my patients who are in construction all say makita is worth the extra money
but these are guys who use them all day, every day

if it were me, i would buy the kit with them all in one bag
lithium batteries are worth the extra cost
i have one with the regular kind, and it seems like you can hear it spinning slower as you use it

Wait for woodcraft or slims to have a sale . Makita / dewalt are both good . I own a set in both brands and don't prefer one over the other . Just comes down to sale price .
Fast is fine , accuracy is final

I'm no expert but I picked up a Porter Cable 18v set that I've been happy with. Mine has the Nicads but they also make it with lithium batteries.

I've had the same makita 18v set for 3 years with heavy use every day. My impact even survived a dip in a customers fish pond over a year ago.

I use only Makita, and I give it a slight edge over Dewalt. I like the compact 18 volt lithium drill and impact driver for home use, although they can withstand heavier duty. All of mine are 18 volts lithium. Cordless sawzalls, full size drills, hammer drills, and grinders are very tough also. Drill doctors are ok if you got the time, but I usually toss the bits when they go bad. Go with the best that you can afford.

My plug in dewalt drill is a beast had it over 10 years never a issue with it.  Used if for house hold work even polishing some deep lifted truck wheels.

Probably the best advice here, "go with the best you can afford" you'll never go wrong buying high quality tools.
That being said, I've used Dewalt for over 15 years, until very recently. I was convinced when one of my employees dropped a cordless drill from about 15' onto concrete while hanging an A/C evaporator. We picked it up and it still worked perfectly, for the next 5 years until I purchased the newer model. I've recently bought a couple of Makita's on sale, the 18v lithium impact driver, it works great, charges fast and I have no complaints, but I don't think it would survive the drop test the Dewalt did. They just don't seem as robust.

[ Edit]
For the sawzall, go with the original, corded Milwaukee, it'll last a lifetime for home use, I haven't found a cordless yet that will stand up to repeated abuse.

Angle grinder, meh, Dewalt or Makita, again the corded version, won't quit on you in the middle of a cut. I had a Craftsman that last 10 years and my tools work for a living.

I have actually dropped my makita impact off of a roof during a solar installation. A two story roof. It was clipped to my bags and as I side stepped the ladder at the top to get onto the roof, the ladder pushed the drill off my pouch. It landed on a concrete driveway. Still works fine.

I will say that I have been extremely impressed by the 20v* dewalt tools. My coworker has one and the impact will drive lags considerably faster than any other impact that I've seen.

everybody here loves makita. I come from Bosch land but don't see too much of that around locally. the lithium ion tools are the best. ridgid makes some good stuff or at least they used to. I wish I had one of those old stick battery makita drills. they were indestructible

I have the 20V DeWalt impact driver and hammer drill. They are used everyday! Compared to my old Craftsman drill, the Dewalts are smaller and more powerful! I say it's worth the money. But wait for sales from Woodcraft or Slim's! Sometimes they have a trade in your old drill for a discount sales. For home use, get the 1.5A battery instead of the 3.0A...cheaper!

All depends on price and availability. Check Amazon time to time . I recently picked up a new dewalt hight torque 1/2 " driver 20v at 400# torque. Perfect for disassembling chiller barrels with 7/8 bolts . Got the new Makita mini band saw for my home / work projects .

I've always found that certain brands make certain tools a bit better, or at least that is my personal preference. Off the top of my head...

Porter cable for sanders
Makita for cordless drills and impact drivers
Milwaukee for reciprocating saws
Craftsman for hand tools
Skil for power saws

Dewalt doesn't stand out for any specific tools, they actually make pretty good all around products.  Everything that I have used has been high quality.
