Vacation carry

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but figured I'd check with the experts.  A buddy is traveling to the Islands next month and is wondering about CCW.  One web site says that our state (Nebraska) CCW permit is honored by HI, but another says that HI only honors HI permits.  My read is that with such a restrictive CCW in place, HI would not honor other permits.  So my two part question is:  a) does HI honor other state CCW permits, and if so, b) are there any other laws that might prevent travelers from possessing handguns while on vacation?  I was going to recommend he just call the state offices to check, but you folks are probably a faster route.
Sure hope I'm wrong, and the carry is honored.  If so I might have to schedule another trip myself.  I miss your lovely state, this would be a great excuse to visit again.

Thanks for any info you can give.

You can bring firearms here but you can't  CCW em.

Here's Honolulu Police department's website explaining the gun laws.

Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

No need, Hawaii is totally safe. Especially if you are a tourist...people visiting here are never involved in violent crimes or robberies.  ::)

On  a serious note, read the laws. No CCW, there is a registration issues to deal with, etc.
Relax, I've banned myself..

Hawaii does not recognize any State's CCW permit. And, if he does bring his firearm into the state he must register it with the police within 72 hours of arrival.
