This is my favorite EDC!
Description below from Kershaw web site.
I prefer combo blades to straight edges.

The Clash just may be a perfect EDC. It features a drop point blade of 8CR13MoV stainless steel, which Kershaw heat treats to ensure its strength, hardness, and ability to hold a keen edge. That's paired with a lightweight Polyimide handle with sure-grip texturing. To make it even better, the Clash features SpeedSafe assisted opening, a Flipper, and is priced for excellent value.

I carry this plain edge knife pretty much daily, and I keep the smaller serrated version of it in my computer case for when I go to work ... in case a cardboard box needs to be taken out!   >:D

Spyderco Salt I Serrated Edge H-1 Steel Knife
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001CNZXWE/?tag=2ahawaii-20

I bought them for 3 reasons:

1.  Price
2.  Rust Resistance (it's basically a folding dive knife)
3.  Name brand

Now that I've carried them, I can say they are:

1.  thin
2.  light
3.  easy to open one-handed
4.  hard to fumble with the pattern in the handle
5.  positive lock (safe)
6.  Keep the edge for a long time after first time you sharpen it (factory edge dulls quickly due to the nature of H-1 steel)
7.  Pocket clip staying tight  so far after hundreds (thousands??) of clipping/unclipping to the pocket

Can't say anything bad about it.  It's tough, light, thin and dependable.  Just what I want in an EDC knife.

Been carrying these (not the ones in the picture) for almost 10 years. Gerber 600 bluntnose and CRKT M16. The knife is $20 from Wal Mart. Thick blade and holds an edge pretty good. Even used the tip once as a screwdriver. Sharpen it usually 2-3 times a year, or as soon as it won't shave hair. Most of the finish is gone, and it's been through the wash a few times. Cheap enough so it won't break my heart if it's lost or broken.

Broke 2 Leatherman pliers in less than 5 years, and plain old wore out a SOG Powerplier. The Gerber has been the toughest so far for me.

Been carrying pliers and knives everyday for over 25 years and so far, these have lasted the longest for me.

Benchmade barrage. Got it as a gift and love the thing. First knife I've ever owned that cost more the $50 and I can see why it's worth the cost

I'm a big fan of my Benchmade Osborne 940.  it has a really nice Reverse Tanto shape that gives me the strength of a tanto, but without having to sharpen that second edge.

the s30v steel kind of bothers me a little because it's such a pain in the ass to sharpen, but it stays petty sharp.  I would prefer a 154 steel instead for EDC.

i love the aluminum handles, the axis lock, and the super smooth opening.

i don't like that the handles are green, but they make red and black handles for it.

heh, thats funny because i kind of prefer s30v. when it wears it gets toothy on a microscopic level, where 154cm gets smooth. 154 is easier to sharpen as you mentioned though.
i have an old 940 with 154cm blade that i high polished and it came with green handles with a purple titanium spacer.
ive always wanted a 942 which has the same handle but in black with a blue spacer and a pointier s30v blade than the reverse tanto.

Is your's a straight blade?

Is your's full serration?

Is your's 50/50?

I'm in the market for a new EDC knife; my previous was a Spyderco Delica with 3/4 serrations.

Totally helped in those (limited) situations when I had to cut up carpet and wiring, but I'm leaning toward 100% straight blade/drop point for my next acquisition.

Oh yeah, not really looking at tantos, but how many of you prefer drop points vs. tantos?

sharpening serrations is hard so i definitely vote for a plain edge. get a cheap serrated knife on the side as a utility work knife.

M16-14zer kinda big but it fits my hand well. 50/50 serrated edge tanto. I like the tanto corner for slicing sensitive stuff like tape on packages. Serrations make quick work of light wire, rope, and fuel lines. It also has a seat belt cutter which is great for fabric and plastic sheeting. Not the best steel and needs sharpening a lot, but it takes a beating and I won't cry too hard if it breaks.
If you dissolve your enemies in acid, technically that's turning your problems into a solution.
