Honolulu Sports Authority remodeled. Wow
« on: November 25, 2009, 08:18:28 PM »
I just went to Sports Authority today and got to see how everything looked inside. I just have to say I was amazed at how much more room there was and how clean and new everything looked compared to the way it used to.

Now on to the most important part, their gun section. Their gun rack must have doubled or tripled in size. Not only that, they even sell an Evil Black Rifle, a S&W for $1099. Their displays are beautiful, some safes out on the floor and shotshells where people can handle them.

There is a downside though.  It looks like all their ammo prices have gone up.  :grrr:
Last time I bought the 100pk of .40 WWB, it was $33; today it was about $45.

They pretty much doubled their size by absorbing all those little shops that were along the ocean side of the building.  I gave it a brief walk through the other day and was impressed.  Seems like they almost have too much floor space now for their limited amount of merchandise.

I think the stores they took over was the Marukai 99cent store and a picture frame store.  Went to buy a spotters scope on Sunday.  I got it for 165 which included a tripod and hard case.  But when I ask for .223 rounds they were out.  Are we able to buy ammo from the internet and ship it here? Let me know if anyone got any info about that.  Oh and got my AR zeroed.  Just have to work on the grouping.  Was anyone at the range on Sunday??

Shipping has to go through UPS, FedEx, or Freighted in ORM-D marked containers. That makes shipping not really worth it unless you are doing bulk. If you are looking for 223, check out OGC Tactical. I was there today and they had XM193 for .40 a round.

That would be the Federal FMJ rounds right?  Do they sell in a case?  What would be the cheapest brand of .223 ammo?

I believe that is the cheapest reloadable ammo (brass cased, boxer primed) and there should be cheaper Wolf ammo (steel cased, berdan primed) out there but I am not sure if anywhere on the island has it.

This place you can search for online prices to get an idea of what the mainland sells everything for: http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=.223

From what I've read, and I could be wrong, XM193 is the rejected or contract over-run mil-spec ammo. So it could be great, it could have problems.

XM193 is iffy at best... a friend of mine went through 2K rounds and had 3 primers come loose into the gun.  One primer froze the bolt half way into battery and temporarily disabled the weapon.  Scary thought considering if that happened to one of our fighting men overseas!!! :wtf:  It aint the best stuff but went through about 2700 rnds of PMC without a hitch.  LOL!  Like 2a said, maybe maybe not!  But with three malfunctions in 2K rounds, sounds like a bad lot.  If the lot was pulled because of problems, guess where it might go... sold to us.. maybe?

Why did they stop selling handguns?
