Ige or Aiona?

If Ige pulls the upset over the hippie, who will you vote for given that Ige got a B rating and Aiona a C rating on gun rights?  What can you tell me about other issues that these two candidates support.

Aiona. Hawaii needs a 2 party system for checks and balances instead of the tyranny of one party.

But either one would be better than what we have now.

Ige has good gun politics (for a Hawaii dem) but after listening to him debate, he's an idiot.

Sorry to offend anyone; but he's just the same old Hawaii democrat, let's do studies and form a committee to write a report.. blah blah blah..

I'll probably vote Aiona

Aiona seems to be like a say-whatever-you-want-me-to kinda guy. That only gets you so far in politics. He's got to screw someone over sooner or later and I'm not sure I want to be the screwee.

My thoughts exactly.  Looking at his platform he doesn't have not one fresh idea.  I think he would do Hawaii that same as every other democrat politician that we've had.  I know I wanted to vote on the 2a issue, but I believe I am 2nd guessing my self on this guy.

I mean one of the first things I saw was he wants to continue pushing tourism as the primary means of Hawaii's economic stimulus.   Wtf? I can see Hawaii being a 2nd class vacation spot, if it hasn't already.   We need new blood in there. Even if he's republican lite.

IMO it's a wash. I would probably vote for Ige based on history.
When Lingle was in office the legislature refused to do anything she wanted based on party. Nothing got done and we were in an even worse situation.

We need to change the makeup of the legislature before we can reasonably expect any kind of positive change.

Personally not sure. I'm leaning toward Ige at the moment as Duke's website does not have his platform. At least I can't find it. If anyone can link to it that would be helpful.

Couple things I like about Ige besides is NRA grade (now I know these are campaign promises so I won't get my hopes up).

1. Balanced budget
2. Not raising taxes
3. Increase local food production

Ige is preferred over the hippie.

He isn't as Dangerous as the dope smoking anti-war hippie activist.

Watched his antisc along with Oliver Lee while I was at UH.

A Leopard Can't change his spots.

Like many other politicians, I don't think he ever had a Real Job in the private sector.

AFAIK, he's been sucking the public teat since UH days.

Example Voting suggestion:

If you want a Republican, but the Dems seem to have a stronger candidate,

Vote Dem in the primary and vote Against who you don't like.

He may/may Not win in the primary, gives your Republican a better chance in the General.

One vote Can make a difference.

Yeah, in other words the same old platitudes; where are the specifics?

His Action Plan is very long on things he wants to improve, but very short on how he will achieve that. For someone who has been in the Senate for years; he should know specifically what he wants to change. He doesn't put out specifics, because that way he's not accountable when he fails.

I do agree Aiona needs to get his platform up there.

Hey you are so right!
He was a Communist then along with the unrepentant Oliver Lee and is no doubt a Communist now.
Pull a D ballot and vote against him, then sort it out later.
The third party ( Mufi) will certainly draw off some votes. Maybe Duke can pull it off.

I can't possibly look at more than one candidate's website at a time, since this would cause brain damage. I just finished looking at Aiona's website. "Trust. Respect. Balance." Yeah, that's all I see. How vague can one be? That could mean anything about anything. I know I don't "Trust" any candidate who doesn't have enough "Respect" for voters to publish the entire list of his specific detailed policy positions on his campaign website (nor anywhere else that I can see). I guess that's his idea of "Balance". Utter vague generic feel-good slogans with lots of photos of your kids and grandkid and assume people will, on "Balance" decide to vote for you, even though you are unwilling to tell them what you would specifically actually do as governor.  :wtf:

The only specifics re policies I see on the site are about homelessness and taking 25% of the corporate income taxes to build "affordable housing" for the "cost burdened". Uh huh. So much for "small(er) government". Looks like a RINO (and in my view even the non-RINO Rs suck). I wrote asking for specific positions on all public policy issues (none of which, other than the two mentioned, appear on the site), especially his specific positions re Second Amendment issues. I'm not holding my breath. I suspect "he supports the Second Amendment" might be as "specific" as his campaign allows him to be, but perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised. Maybe he'll write that if elected he will mandate that the State of Hawaii will immediately conform to the Peruta dictates and the state will immediately be "shall issue". Any bets?

Maybe after a 24 hour recovery period I'll be ready to look at the Ige site. No way am I going to look at the Abercrombie site. Ever.

I sent off a request for information from duke as well.  Hopefully we can get an explanation.   I think I will also request thoughts on 2a from Ige.  See if he's still down...

Thinking about this a little, maybe this is the strategy.  Everyone knows that this state is rampant liberal democrat, or those who blindly follow along the party line.  So, if Aiona posts up on his public site, a bunch of conservative republican talk, that probably will scare off voters who are sick of the status quo, yet are ready for a change, but still can't get liberalism out of their heads.  The obvious vagueness of his site perplexes us who think logically, however is just fine for them that sheepishly follow the party line (chasing rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies)....  Worked for the huckster in chief....  Maybe?  Hopefully he will give us a response.
