If you have a chance to move to a gun liberal state which one would you choose and why?

I've been thinking of Texas too.

For the BBQ of course :)

or you can use the Brady scorecard to choose your state  ;D http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/pdf/scorecard/2008/2008_scorecard_rankings.pdf
Just choose the state with the lowest score.  ;D

New Hampshire.  Smallest government and least tax in the entire nation.

I'll be going back to Idaho after I retire.  It is truly a free state, and I love the mountains and snow.

How is the weather throughout the year?
Are there any areas you'd recommend to get some acreage on?

Probably Texas.  I wish Hawaii would at least make the PTA viral, so all vendors would have to do is run your info.  Re-applying every year and waiting brings the suck.  I vow to buy more guns to piss the elected yahoo's we have off:)

2a,   Most areas of Idaho have your general four seasons.  Though if you move into the central and northern mountains you will have a very cold winter with 6+ feet of snow per year.  If you look further south in the high desert you will still have very cold winters, but not as much snow.  Outside of the Boise(Treasure Valley area) and the few resort areas land prices are still good, most areas you can find 20+ acres for 50K-70K, or a nice house on the same amount of land for in the 200's.  It is a beautiful state with friendly people and you can drive 10 - 15 minutes from almost any town and find your own private shooting range on federal land.  CCW is cheap and easy to get, if you have ever taken a hunter safety class, or any pistol safety class it will work for the permit.  If you don't want a permit you can open carry anywhere, and once you are outside of an incorporated city you can CC without a permit.  I would suggest anyone interested in freedom take a look at Idaho.  It is truly a great place.

I vote for Texas, BUT, can't go until the Wife retires from the City & County.

Got to remember that those of us who have Never lived there have to deal with spanish speakers, snakes, fire ants, killer bees, and other
stuff not found here in Hawaii
I'd also miss the Ocean.  Don't think the Gulf of Mexico can be as good.  But, I've been known to be wrong.

Don't even get me started on how We're moving our collection of toys.....

Old Guy - If you want better gun laws and nice beaches, go to Florida.  Still gotta deal with spanish speakers, snakes, fire ants, and killer bees; but you dont have state income tax or virtually any gun laws outside US code.  Most people that havent lived in Texas dont realize that there are actually gun laws, such as no open carry and a class requirement for CCW, while most free states only require residency and 15 minutes of your time at the courthouse.  Also, Texas has virtually no public access land to shoot, which means private ranges an fees; most other states have ranges with no posted rules and anything goes.

Guys, I'm from Louisiana, just next door to Texas?  Texas is not a place you want to live.  Sure, it's gun-friendly.  But it is HOT for 9 months out of the year.  Not "oh, my, it's hot" like you think Hawaii is.  We're talking average temperatures over 100 degrees and heat indexes over 120 for 4 solid months.  Plus, it still has blue laws, so you can't buy packaged alcohol after 9pm or on Sundays.  High levels of racism, low levels of education.

Sure, there are exceptions.  Austin is a fine city.  The suburban sprawl around D/FW has some appeal.  But, seriously, the BBQ is not worth it!  I've had friends and family scattered throughout that state for most of my life, and have spent no small amount of time there.  Trust me.  You can do better.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

I spent a couple years in Killeen, most people dont realize Texas isnt the gun utopia its made out to be, although compared to Hawaii its a big deal.  As far as the alcohol thing, it depends on the county you reside.  Everybody that lived in Copperas Cove stocked up on alcohol at the class 6 on post before going home because Copperas Cove is in a 'dry' county.  We didnt have to get annual emissions tests for our vehicles, but places like Houston and Dallas do.  When I moved back to Hawaii in 05' it was the middle of July, and I pulled a sweater out of my carry on when I got off the plane because I was cold.  Cant knock the heat from Louisiana, Ive been through a few JRTC rotations in the summer, damn near africa hot in the box at Ft Polk.
