What do you think is the most important prep?

Obviously these are all important, but
What do you believe is the single most important thing to have in a SHTF/TEOTWAWKI  scenario?
Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Clean water to drink and cook.  You can only live for 3-5 days without water.  Everything else is to secure that water.

Water before guns & ammo.

You can't protect something you didn't buy/store.

You know 100% you WILL need water.  Firearms are more of a contingent item.

depends. in a WROL situation, all preps can be taken from you without guns. what was really funny during the last hurricane scare was all the people getting bottled water. 20 years ago, we'd just be filling all our containers with water.

the one one thing missing from the list: toilet paper.  ;D this commodity was obviously at least as important to people as water going by what was in everyone's wagons.

Most important prep is knowledge.

But most important physical prep is water. Unless of course you have some sort of ailment that requires a constant source of specific medication that would be almost impossible to come by during an emergency, such as insulin.

Yes... guns would be very important during very specific circumstances... But how many emergencies have we had recently where we actually needed them more so than water+food?

While I believe guns and ammo should be a single category { one is useless without the other } I would go with guns. They would give me an advantage in getting whatever else I need for my family.

sometimes i think of who i know that would be valueable in a doomsday scenario
if they can hunt, fish, build, farm, prep, have guns/ammo, etc. who i can rely on to trade with or help me or i can help them in a time of need.
i would like to build a network of preppers that can be an asset and are friendly if/when doomsday comes.

i wonder if those that choose to steal to survive look at their neighbors differently:
who are prime targets and straglers in the herd that they can steal from
thats a sad thing if people are prepping that way.  :(

The best thing we can do is get our neighbors aware and be of the same mindset.  Get them to prepare to be an asset instead of a liability.

In times of bug-in SHTF, it is to your and your neighbor's best interest to keep the peace in your community until larger scale order is restored.

Hawaii Kai is having its first disaster preparedness meeting at the Kaiser cafeteria at 7pm tonight.

my thoughts exactly on people resources. hopefully they'll be within my area and there'll be a coalition of the like minded should that ever happen.

re:those that would target other people? unfortunately, that's part of the reason you have to arm yourself.   :shaka:
