Ruger LCR in 9mm
« on: September 22, 2014, 10:38:53 AM »
I just received an e-mail from Ruger announcing that the LCR is now available in 9mm. I am a big fan of 9mm revolvers as I own a few. Now they make one of the best small concealed carry revolvers in 9mm. Anyone else considering buying one of these?

Load it up with some +P self defense ammo designed or reloaded specifically for short barreled hideout guns and I think you have a very potent and controllable backup gun.

i really like my LCR in 22LR, functions really well, and DA trigger actually isn't that bad at all.
this one would make a great pocket revolver for those that like the 9mm caliber

...
I shot a 22 lcr once and loved it. One of the best revolvers I have EVER shot.
Personally, I would prefer an lcr in 38 spec.
Just to simplify the extraction process.
Btw...how does the lcr 9mm handle extraction????

When I practice with my Ruger 9mm revolvers I don't use moon clips. I made a shell extractor with a wood dowel and a wood drawer pull. I just poke the shells out after swinging out the cylinder. No need for moon clips. With my S&W 9mm revolver it has a very unique extraction system that does not require moon clips. The extractor arms are spring loaded and ride along the side of the case during the loading process. They slip in under the case rim once the round is fully seated. After firing just swing out the cylinder and press the extractor rod and out come the spent cases. It is quite the engineering feat. IMHO

It appears by the length of the cylinder that this gun was designed for 9mm from scratch. It does not appear you could shoot 38's out of it because it appears you couldn't get a long enough cylinder in there. I could be wrong but that is what it appears to look like to me. The picatinny rail is big enough to mount just about anything you want to on it. No mention as to the frame and cylinder material. No mention of price either. If it becomes available here in the US and it is a reasonable price I would consider it a strong contender to the LCR for me for concealed carry. I would like to feel the fit and trigger for both side by side.

Considering it is European I would guess it could be available eventually in other smaller calibers like 380acp, 9x18mm, or even 32, 25 and 22.

is the pic rail behind the cylinder able to hold anything?

It looks like the laser designed for the gun is on that rail in the pic from the link MD provided above.

NICE!!! I would prefer to carry moon clips with ammo loaded instead of speed loaders. I wonder if it could take moon clips? For range practice I like the single cartridge ejection system. The price is a little high as well. If the trigger would require work on the LCR and not on the Korth then that could be the difference in price and make the Korth worthwhile.
