Just registered a gun on Black Friday I purchased. There way a guy there that forgot to bring money, and he had to step out of line to go to an ATM. When he got back he tried to re-enter the line at the front because the place he was originally was already at the window.
The women waiting in line didn't appreciate him thinking he could just cut back into line.
The dude got really irate and started to make a scene. So much so that the officer behind the window came out to talk to the guy. (But the guy still continued with his rant)
This was a perfect example of the type of person that should NOT own a gun!

Can he be denied the permit? Would there need to be medical proof of his mental instability?
It bothers me to think that this guy would have a gun in or community.
He clearly had anger management issues!

On the one hand, yes probably the guy has anger issues and may by declined a permit to acquire.  However, on the other hand why do we have to submit to the will of the chief of police to get the permission and blessings of the almighty COF to exercise our right that is clearly defined in the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States?

I have had many a irritated thoughts in line at HPD, BUT I can control myself and instead work to try to change the system in a legal and peaceful manner.  Not only is this more constructive, it would probably be more effective.

So speaking of the line.

If you fail to bring something or generally be prepared, do you get to go to the front?  So many times I get in the line and get my business done with other people basically cutting cause they were "there earlier"?

I gave a guy shit one time cause I was the only one in line but he just had to get in front of me to conduct his business.  He also stated that he had been "there before" after I rose a stink.  If you are going to cut the line at least explain yourself if there are 3 people in line.  I understand an entire room but common sense prevails.

The last time I was there a young man stepped up holding a registration and I asked him if he just had a question and he said yes.  No issue

There are no norms when it comes to this line and it does seem if the people behind the window know you then it gets taken advantage of.

The window doesn't exactly have a "take a number" organized method of serving us.  Basically, once you are called to the window, you don't have to go to the back of the line each time you complete a step.

However, if someone is already standing in front of the window, you should wait until an officer asks you to step up.

Going to the ATM is a valid interruption (although I would have done enough research/asking friends to know I need to bring some cash). 
When you return, stand inside the registration room in front of the line at the door, but wait until the people already talking to the officers finish.
No going to the very front of the line while people are already interacting with the police officers.

I think that works best.  The line at the doorway has to wait until called to the window anyway.  Everyone else who has been called should be able to cycle to the window until they have everything completed.

I agree. A little courtesy goes a long way.

However I know there are people taking advantage of this and just popping up front cause the claim "they had been there before".

Whatever happened to the initiative of expanding the registration to other police stations.

A person can get ahead of others if he/she has the consent of those people. PERIOD. That's just courtesy. Assumptions make an ass out of people - so ask! R-E-S-P-E-C-T others - bottom line to get to the front of the line

1. I believe the guy was 2nd in line and then jumped out.
2. Accidentally bumped one of the female workers and then he threw his hands up and yelled loudly SHIT!
3. When he came back he tried to cut in line.
4. A girl told him that he cut in line and didn't appreciate it. She had her kids waiting in the car.
5. He tells her he don't care and could give a shit about her kids.
6. He says his home was broken into and stuff stolen and also his car. It also took cops 45 mins to get to his house. He needs a gun to protect himself.
7. They go back and forth and the girl is now crying.
8. Plain cloth cops pulls him out and tells him he lost his place and must go to the end.
9. Another plain cloth cops talks to him.
10. They argue
11. The guy is now in the back and keeps loud mouthing
12. Other customers are trying to talk to him but he keeps loud mouthing and he told one guy off
13. Officer comes in to talk to him.
14. He tells his story again but adding that two of his family are lawyers and is going to sue them. He is also a civil engineer and is better than everyone there. He also told the cops he got burglarized and they didn't do their job.
15. Officer pulls him outside and another officer comes to assist. They rip it on him.
16. Guy comes back in and goes to the back but at least two more people came in front of him.
17. This went on for at least 1/2 hour. IDK what happened after we left. We have partial on video.

Was that the guy from the other thread that had to wait 45 minutes for cops to come to his house after he called reporting there was an intruder sleeping in his kids bed?

It is funny how so many people are so clueless of how much of a hassle it is to own a firearm here in Hawaii.  The way the media and the politicians make it sound anyone and everyone can get a gun super easily, thus the need for more and more stringent laws.  heh.

Agreed, the only people that have "easy" access to guns are criminals.
Got cash, drugs or even a nice power tool? You too can obtain an illegal weapon, no background check, no waiting! Rob or rape someone tonight!

Oh! You want to get a firearm to protect yourself and your family from the insane person that's threatening you?
Sorry, please fill out this mound of paperwork, get fingerprinted, wait 14 days for the background check to clear, THEN come back and register it. BTW, don't make any mistakes or you can be denied. In the meantime, if that insane person shows up, call 911 and hope for the best, or you can try peeing on them.

Thinking about it, we should be infuriated as to the amount of crap we have to go through to LEGALLY obtain a firearm.
If only the same process were to get a car we wouldn't need a rail.

Hmm... The line at the Dillingham DMV isn't exactly that great either.

A) registration is bullshit and a blatant violation of our constitutional rights.

B) it's sad that someone can't emote without someone trying to strip him of his rights.

C) maybe those women in the line should have just been nice and realized that the poor bastid just forgot his money.
