PTR-32 or SLR-95
« on: August 06, 2011, 02:44:05 PM »
I went to fun times fun shoot today and had a blast.

I met Dregs, Cougar8045, Funtimes and Mrs Vooduchikn. ( all super nice people)

Shooting the AK-47 on the course made me happy that I own it.

I've been considering getting another rifle chambered in 7.62x39 and am torn between these two fine rifles.

A) Arsenal SLR-95.
Milled receiver AK chambered in 7.62x39

or

B) PTR-32 chambered in 7.62x39

I love these rifles and will definitely be buying one of them real soon.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with either one or both of these rifles?

Which do you think I should choose and why.

The PTR-32 has some issues with its trunnion. Buddy of mine in TX has one and the trunnion cracked, but PTR repaired it and shipped it back no charge. There is a statement on PTR's website addressing this issue though.

Although I prefer HK style rifles, I'd rather go with the Arsenal over the PTR right now.

Since you already have the SGL-21, why get the SLR-95 unless you want another AK. In which case, get that. I don't see much benefit in the milled receiver, though, and usually there is a pretty high premium on them. Then again, the PTRs are expensive too. A high entry price into the world of 7.62x39.

Why is it that whenever I start one of these "which one should I get" threads, I always get both?
