I dare you to be a hero...DAWG!

but in all seriousness, who can REALLY trace themselves to Hawaiian monarchy bloodline? So many have claimed that they are descendants of King, Queen, Prince, Princess...It's so diluted.
So what do they really want? The USA to revert back to 49 states? There are a LOT of Asian countries that would kick the Hawaiian Islands around. Look at what China is doing in the Philippines, Vietnam and the Senkaku Islands. The "overthrow" of the Hawaiian Monarchy took place over a hundred years ago. Much has changed.

Depends on what group, many have very different views on what they want.  Unfortunately we usually hear from the ones that want the impossible.  IMO, they should practice what they preach, and unite for a viable cause to help naive Hawaiians.  You should hear some of the stories I've been told about bloodlines.   Some magical shit...  and if anyone is wondering I'm kanaka maoli.

Us veterans at this place I used work used to get pissed when they would try to replace Old Glory with their flag.  It was sort of a big issue.  Finally the big boss said screw it, cut the flag pole down.  So both sides lost.

They want freedom? We ALL have it in Hawaii! More than what was in the Hawaiian Kingdom ruled by a monarchy!
Another interesting sticker I've seen popping up is "HAWAIIAN HOSTAGE" Who are holding Hawaiians hostage? Ironically, it's on big trucks and the like. If you are a hostage, WTF are you driving around?
Is being a victim the new thing now?

Aloha and with all due respect Ren,

You say, "There are a LOT of Asian countries that would kick the Hawaiian Islands around."  This is pure speculation.  There has never been any credible evidence of any nation that has the intent and/or military capacity of taking over the Hawaiian Islands much more so in the 21st century.

You say, "Look at what China is doing in the Philippines, Vietnam and the Senkaku Islands."  What has China done to the Philippines?  Are they planning to invade?  I thought they were said to be preparing to invade Taiwan since 1949.  Oh wait, its 2015 and that still hasn't happened.  Vietnam?  Please educate me what the Chinese are doing to them.  And the Senkaku or Daioyu Islands?  Don't forget that Taiwan also is staking claim to those islands as well.

Finally, you say "The "overthrow" of the Hawaiian Monarchy took place over a hundred years ago. Much has changed."  You are totally correct.  Hawaii is no longer ruled by the constitutional monarchy and the foreign born and foreign naturalized nationals that comprised that multiracial government, and all of the ethnic and non-ethnic Hawaiian descendants of the Kingdom of Hawaii have not received the social justice as prescribed by International Law for the restoration of the Hawaiian Nation, despite the absence of a Treaty of Annexation by the US and the Clinton Apology in the 1990s.

I understand you and many other posters in this thread are not in-favor of a restored Hawaiian Nation and that's totally fine. However, please reconsider utilizing outdated cold war fear tactics that terrorizes and confuse the issues with respect to the restoration of the Hawaiian Nation.

There are many examples of China's strategic expansion in the Pacific. China is hungry for resources - like any other rapidly developing country. Fishing is one example.

How will you restore the Hawaiian Nation? What about the rest of us non-Hawaiians that live here? Will Hawaii still be a state of America?

Yes, I will not doubt that China has and will have a blue water navy in the near future, but so what?  Whether I like it or not, the 21st century is the Middle Kingdom's century.  As I said, the possibility of China becoming an imperial power like the declining US has been for decades is still speculative.  However, it is still comforting to know that China has not attacked anyone at least in the last 100 years.  That is more that I can say for the US, who has been invading and still trying to invade other nations under false pretext since 2001.

As for your question of how can the Hawaiian Nation be restored; my simple answer is to have the US honor international law and restore the government of the Hawaiian Kingdom.  I am not a big fan of monarchies, but am one who believes in a modern democratic republic.  Hence, once the Hawaiian Government is empowered, a constitutional convention should take place, abolishing the monarchy and implementing a contemporary government structure with an executive, legislative, and judicial branch.

For those people who currently reside in Hawaii who can't trace their lineage to any ethnic Hawaiian, non-ethnic Hawaiian citizen, or naturalized citizen of the Hawaiian Nation prior to 1893; I am totally in-favor of naturalization of those current residents of Hawaii who wish to become part of the restored Hawaiian Nation.  Every country still needs a tax base, right?

Finally, my answer to your last question is who would want to be part of a bankrupt nation with a government who allows illegal immigrants to have more rights than its own citizens, is trying to shred its own constitution and become a police state, and is currently moving itself in a possible war with both Russia and China?

Naturalization?  No room in your kingdom for immigrants who are citizens of other countries?

Imagine if every other country of the world allowed no foreign-born residents to live there unless they denounced their original citizenship!!  Mexico would be overrun by Mexicans now living in the US!!

I've lived in Hawaii all my life, like my father before me, his father before him, his father before him, etc...

The reality though is that anyone that believes that Hawaii can secede and make it on its own as a "sovereign nation" is smoking crack.

Let's say hypothetically that the US of A said, "OK, we will pull out of. Hawaii and take everything out of Hawaii that was placed there since the overthrow of the monarchy"

Let's say that the US government gives back all the land, minus every building, every road, every pipe placed in the ground for running water, every electrical line, every single thing placed in Hawaii by foreigners.

Let's say that the US removes it's protection from the Nation of Hawaii and says "OK, you're on your own, run the islands how you please"

That only native Hawaiian people are allowed to reside in Hawaii, MINUS their houses, cars, clothes, absolutely everything foreign that was introduced to Hawaii.

I guarantee you that the majority of HAWAIIAN people would move to the mainland and leave Hawaii.

The only people that would stay would be the poverty level Hawaiians that have nothing.

I guarantee that some other country would overthrow the islands within a few short years, because the "meddling" USA would not be able to protect the Hawaiian nation.

The real question is: Why did the capitol do nothing to stop this?
I have no idea what their policy is regarding that question, but I can give the answer used in response to the question "Why can't the lava flow be diverted to avoid the possible destruction of untold number of businesses and homes, and isolating an entire section of the population from goods and services?". In the words of Big Island Civil Defense Administrator Darryl Oliveira (commonly called "chief" by the news media and local politicians): "cultural sensitivity".

Please note the irony that they work feverishly with bulldozers, water-carrying helicopters, and all the necessary fire-fighting manpower needed to put out the brush and forest fires started by the lava flows. It's almost as if they think that Pele hasn't put that lava exactly where she wants it and doesn't know that putting it there will start a fire that could threaten homes. That would seem to be an insult to Pele: as if some of her actions are deliberate and intentional (the lava itself) to destroy man-made objects (buildings, roads, etc.), while other destruction (by fire) resulting from her sending the lava flows where she does is due to her ignorance of how lava works when sent to combustible materials. Where's the "cultural sensitivity"?

Also note that the "culture" of concerned law-abiding citizens wanting their natural, civil Constitutionally-guaranteed right to self-defense via bearing arms to be legally recognized in this state isn't deserving of one iota of "sensitivity".

Perhaps if we claimed that our desire to have our rights recognized and legally exercised was based upon some superstition we'd get more respect?
