Kaiser Insurence Denying applications for firearms
« on: February 05, 2015, 09:31:40 PM »
So my friend went to pick up his handgun permits today.. He bought the guns already and registered 2 handguns about 2 weeks ago.

So the police officer working told him that Kaiser DENIED his application. To my understanding that is the same as basically declairing him mentally unfit ?

Anyway he spoke with Kaiser who said that they are no longer signing off on anyones gun permits.. But to me the controversy is they are not refusing to sign the permit, they are DENYING that paperwork.

So my friend talked with the HPD representitive who was working and the officer gave him a paper to have ANY doctor sign off on that states that he is NOW mentally stable..

Basically from what I can gather, Kaiser is declairing anyone who wants a gun INSANE and denying them their 2nd ammendment rights.  IS THERE A LAWYER IN THE HOUSE who would like to make some $ ?

... THERE IS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE FOR ANYONE WITH KAISER INSURENCE.

Thoughts, Ideas, Suggestions ?

Sorry, after further browsing i found the posts in the general discussion area..   Seems my friend would like to sue , I'll have him create an account and get in contact with anyone wanting to team up for a class action lawsuit.

What is so damng stupid about this whole situation is that Kaiser does not have to sign off on ANYTHING.  All they have to do is ignore the request, no yeah or nay, and it is all good. ... Unless there is a good reason to report something!

IMO, Only reason I can see for them doing this is that they purposefully want people denied.  There are too many incidences....  :grrr:

If SB462 passes into law, does this mean HPD will confiscate all your existing firearms if you have been falsely flagged by Kaiser?  This is getting scary out of hand!

This attempt at firearm confiscation reminds me of this Aesops Fable tale.

The Wolf and the Lamb Fable

Once upon a time a Wolf was lapping at a spring on a hillside, when, looking up, what should he see but a Lamb just beginning to drink a little lower down. "There's my supper," thought he, "if only I can find some excuse to seize it." Then he called out to the Lamb, "How dare you muddle the water from which I am drinking?"

"Nay, master, nay," said Lambikin; "if the water be muddy up there, I cannot be the cause of it, for it runs down from you to me."

"Well, then," said the Wolf, "why did you call me bad names this time last year?"

"That cannot be," said the Lamb; "I am only six months old."

"I don't care," snarled the Wolf; "if it was not you it was your father;" and with that he rushed upon the poor little Lamb and ate her all up. But before she died she gasped out:

Moral of Aesops Fable: "Any excuse will serve a tyrant."

for once im the lucky one. registered a lot of rifles and pistols in the last 3 months with zero problems and i have kaiser.
i wonder if it has anything to do with not currently having a primary care physician? mine retired and i havent been for a checkup since so im just floating in patient purgatory until i need to be assigned one to get a checkup.

Hey brotha jay. No has nothing to do with your pcp unless your pcp diagnos you with some mental health condition which will stay on your record.  But if any person goes into counseling at Kaiser or wherever for any reason even of it has nothing to do with your mental health. They can use it as a flag.

add me to the list of suckers that got denied by kaiser
i have never been to counciling, psycologist, psychiatrist.
i just got a gun a couple months ago, no problem, no change in my medical since then or in several years
got call from HPD this morning saying I have a red flag from kaiser, and need doctors clearance to get firarms
this is after my recent application for CCW.

sad thing is I work for kaiser too.

In a rational world, I would think "There has to be more to this that we're not hearing", but in this case, in this situation, in this state, I believe it.

I hate to hear of your trouble. Hopefully, especially as an employee, a phone call or two will get it cleared up. Keep us informed.  :shaka:

Considering the huge number of people with Kaiser in Hawaii, if this was a widespread thing, you'd think there would be a lot more visibility.

Other than the postings here, I have not heard a thing about it.  The permits going out have to include a large amount of those with Kaiser.

Wouldn't this be news worthy?  I wonder why the news isn't covering it.

On the other hand, with the anti-gun bias of the news media, maybe it might be better they don't?

i dont think so.
It has to do with behavioral health department, or if you ever saw a psychologist for any reason you will get flagged
i forgot that i went to behavioral health back in 1987 when i was in high school for 1 visit.
nothing serious, got into a few fights at school and iirc, my mom thought it was a good idea that i go see a psychologist
now i have to go outside kaiser, bc they dont write letters to hpd saying you are ok to acquire it is kaiser's policy.
i have to find a doctor and have them write the letter to hpd

my advice is to never see a psychologist at kaiser
thats some f'd up policy kaiser has.
