Does anyone on here have a front sight membership? If so have you gone and taken any classes? Whats your feedback?

I've taken the Uzi, handgun/CCW, and rifle courses several times.  I haven't had a chance to take the advanced courses yet.

Everyone starts out with their beginner classes first.  For defensive handgun, they go over how to draw from a holster, shooting from 3 to 15m, malfunction drills, draw from concealment, brief part to pie doorways and clearing rooms.  Great for beginners and challenging for more advanced shooters due trying to reach a "distinguished grad" so you can take the advanced courses.  The most difficult shot on the test is firing a headshot at 5m from concealment in 1.9 seconds.  The type 3 double feed malfunction clearing was also difficult and I think you had 6 seconds to do it.  Disadvantages to the course is roundcount is low due to lots of classes and dryfire (might be plus if you can't hande shooting alot), you're forced to use a weaver stance, and they don't go over more advanced positions that other shooting schools would teach in a 101 course.  But overall great for beginners/old people/women/kids, does challenge advanced shooters, and is cheap and near las vegas.

The separate 2 night class was good practicing shooting with harris grips on flashlights.

The practical rifle works on short range shooting, 3 to 100 yards I think, from the low ready, kneeling, and prone.  Went over a lot of the same drills as handgun, speed and accuracy.  I missed distinguished grad by 1 point, aced everything except I missed all 3 200 yard shots at the end.  Guess adrenalin got the better of me.  Went with Keoni for that one and had a good time.

They also have rapel, full-auto shoots, children courses (so parents can play).  They have about 500 people attending courses each day and I usually meet someone from Hawaii everytime I go.  I like it cause it's cheap and located near Vegas.

Another thing is you get a lot of email attention from them several times a day...spam.     I recommend sending the torrents of their email to a spam folder or opt-out.

Training is good, marketing practices are questionable.

Just to add in my 2 cents, they are very laid back and patient so if you've never attended any types of shooting classes this is a good way to go. There were some negligent discharges in both classes I attended and it didn't even seem to bother the instructors, just a quick reminder to the class and continue practicing..I brought a cooler with drinks (they had a water jug with paper cups for everyone to drink) and snacks which came in handy...suntan lotion and lip balm is highly recommended....

I just got my diamond membership activated. Anyone planning on going soon? Ive only shot at ranges and private land. Never ran drills. So ill be in the noob category

Gonna be in LV in Sept so will prolly  attend a class. Willingness to learn and not being a prick goes a long way, had some real assholes one of my classes and nobody wanted to help/partner up with them

My next vacation is in august but not looking forward to the heat and training. Might prefer feb time. Much cooler. Us big boys operating temp is much higher then you normal guys. So things get sweaty fast lol.

Me I'm a little peeved because even though already took their basic class and have other training you have to repeat the basic class if not continued going in 2 years.  I just couldn't make the time    So ok have to do it a and then yeah might as well schedule the CCW class too since basic will also serve as pre-req for that I think.  And it has to be recent as well like the same week to qualify.  Then have to submit the docs in person to get it mailed when ready.  Otherwise if you mail in the application then you have to fly back to pick it up in person.  Talking Pahrump.  Anyways.  Nobody but nobody has facilities like Front Sight has that I know of.  Two thumbs up.  I can't wait until the resort is built and yes I went full boogie so get first crack at reservations or purchase.  We shall see what the good Doc. comes up with.

I have only taken the 4 day defensive handgun class and the concealed carry permit class/test.  It was a blast!!!   I plan on going back in Sept or Nov to take another handgun skill builder course and the basic practical rifle course.  Want to go once a year.  It easily beats loosing money in Vegas by a long shot!!!

The basic handgun class is very structured and teaches the old weaver style and nothing else.   Every class you take will be about the same and you will not see bleeding edge concepts but everything is consistent and everything is good enough.  It is geared towards novice shooters.  My guess is that even the Front Sight advanced classes are probably geared towards graduates of the Front Sight beginner classes and may not be agreeable to advanced students from other backgrounds because of the fundamental methods that all the advanced methods are based on.  Based on my friends account of a rifle class he took locally, I would say that Front Sight is definitely safer for beginners in that they teach you to crawl before walking then running.  Boring, yes but necessary.  I asked my friend if they covered/practiced trigger finger position, safety manipulation, muzzle discipline , dry firing or any of the fundementals of not shooting yourself and others around you before running-and-gunning and he replied with a puzzled look in his face "well, we talked about that stuff...sure?"  Again, if you are a class 10 super SEAL Team 11, you already mastered this stuff but for the average Joe who goes to Kokohead a couple of times a month, I would want to cover the boring stuff over and over and over again to ensure I go home without getting a new orifice, especially from the guy next to you.  Remember that there are people even less experienced than you... .

My opinion is that Front Sight is like the Walmart of firearms training and that's not a bad thing.  If you just want a good reasonably priced TV with decent quality, Walmart probably has something close.  If you want the best, top rated TV, then go elsewhere.  I actually like shopping at Walmart in every city that I go to because they are all the same and the quality is consistent, not the best but good enough. They may not have the Pioneer XYZ123 OLED TV but they will have a Sharp/Sony/LG ABC123 LED TV for a good price and it will be the same at every single Walmart you go to.

Oh yeah, you will get one email a day and one phone call a week trying to sell you something or to upgrade your membership.  Just ignore them and enjoy the training.

Ha, ha.  I went for the "cheap" full boogie.  If the resort ever gets built, then just one free hotel stay will have covered the upgrade cost so I figured what the heck.   That guaranteed 20% mark up on ammo for life might come in handy if another gun grab scare occurs again.  Don't know what the mark up is normally but what the heck right.   Shooting is fun and ammo is expensive.

Yes they have night classes during the summer but the day classes are a pre requisite....Haven't had a chance to attend any night classes yet but I heard from others that it was a good learning experience

Haha took 2 different classes in late October and yea some of the big boys were having an issue with the sun and heat.

Everyone struggles with the desert heat and lack of humidity.  You literally feel all the moisture leave your body with each breath.  Hydrate hydrate hydrate is a real thing.  Every time the cart rolled by with ice cold drinks was welcomed.
Good times.

Another time a friend took us shooting in the desert and that was an eye opener once the sun set.  Biting, whipping wind and the temps dropped away to what felt like freezing! No can handle called it a day.   But that was great to drive few minutes, pull off the street and onto desert road and go shoot guns just like that.  All completely legal.

Up this. So in regards to their membership why does the price vary so much from the website and like private sellers? I have a line for the diamond membership for $75. Is that a good deal? Is it $75 for lifetime membership? How do you book classes? Any other fees?
