Going to the Range

This is how they do it on the mainland.

Going to and from the range.

Rifles are not allowed to be loaded within a vehicle in this State. Thus, its a pistol.
Open Carry within a car requires a permit even in plain sight,  but not outside the vehicle.

The "plain sight" law is silly.  I say that, because I've driven from NC to SC and back, and the laws are complete opposites.

The law in NC says the gun must be in plain sight unless you have a CCW permit.  So, it got to ride in the drink holder next to me.

When I crossed the SC state line, the law is reversed.  If you carry a gun in the car for protection, it must be concealed in a glove box, center console compartment, etc.  It doesn't have to be locked, just somewhere it can't be seen, and where you can't have quick and easy access to it!  Of course, CCW permit holders can keep them on-body, but that can be just as difficult to access unless you have a shoulder holster.

Just silly that one state can rationalize that a visible weapon is safer, yet their neighboring state rationalizes that a gun that can't be seen is safer.

Open carry without permit is legal here. but as soon as you get in the car, the car conceals the gun. then a permit is required.

Same in NC & SC, just not the same directions when carrying the gun in the car.

So if you get in an accident, you'll have 5+ pounds of Steel flying though the car...

Kept mine in an Uncle Mike's holster in the drink holder.

Cushion the blow in a wreck :).

Also kept the gun safer than it shifting around in the holder around corners, over bumps ...
