Can anyone tell me what a PRAC/SIL magazine is???
« on: June 04, 2015, 05:53:55 AM »
I've tried to find this out for awhile and can't locate a clear description.

I need to buy some 10 round mags for my Browning Hi-Power 9mm and my upcoming move to Oahu (bye-bye 13 round mags). :(

So on the Browning page, for example, they have two types of mags. Apparently, standard and PRAC/SIL:

I'm assuming I just want standard, but I would love to know WTF this means!

Did some searching and I think prac stands for "practical" a model of the Hi Power. The sil stands for "silver" probably the finish.

Why don't you just put a block in your mag to restrict it to 10 rounds before coming to Hawaii or just take them apart and save your mags as "parts kits"

Also - those mags are pretty expensive

Browning makes, among others, 2 models of the High Power called "Practical" and "Silver Chrome"

I'm thinking "PRAC/SIL"  means the mag fits those 2 models.

I have no firsthand knowledge ... just did my own online sleuthing.

For what it's worth.

Yep, I've already seen that link. I'm thinking more along the lines of taking them apart and keeping as "parts kits" - but then, I still need mags, or I'll have an empty useless handgun.  ;D

Oh, absolutely! I would never buy it from them; I was just using that as an example. I can find the same exact Browning mags online for less than half that price - and even cheaper with generics.  8)

Thanks for that - I tried a number of searches and I didn't come across that. Must not have used the right terms....

Makes sense.
