If these forums and blogs discussed weapons used exclusively by the military, like laser-guided munitions and shoulder-launched missiles, I would agree that data is too valuable and dangerous to make freely available to all countries.

But, the types of weapons owned and used by the majority of regular people in the US involve common knowledge around most of the world.  Many of the weapons are in fact made in foreign countries!

If there are instances of this information being used by foreigners to make weapons for ill intent, that needs to be used as evidence that this change is needed.  If not, then the cost of such a change far outweighs any real or imagined benefit.

I believe the news media should be all over this!  How many fluff pieces are they going to lose when they are no longer able to explain the finer points of firearm technology?

Yeah, I read about this earlier today.

This is a freedom of speech issue. Most of the "technology" we talk about here is in the public domain and therefore no credible threat to national security.

Then again.....The left would like nothing better than to be able to keep us from talking amongst ourselves. Harry Reid's attempt to block "political speech" for example. The entire "PC" movement as well.

All I can say is: If free speech is outlawed, I will be an outlaw.

This is the kind of things Thomas Jefferson knew would happen which is why he made his famous "Tree of Liberty" speech centuries ago.
It applies today and tomorrow.

I'm surprised it took this long for something like this to be proposed.  Don't get me wrong, I think it total bullshit.

I wonder if the government has the resources to go after the millions of people, gun owners and not, who post detailed discussions on firearms blogs and forums daily?  If they don't disseminate general guidance that allows the bulk of information discussed to be posted, they will:

A.  be inundated with requests for approval to post,

B.  be inundated with cases to investigate and prosecute for not obtaining approval, or

C.  Both A and B

So, if all of my help videos, gun data, programs, old correspondence, etc. Is on my laptop, ---and the government has just proved that any system can be hacked---and there is one speck of export controlled data on my laptop and I connect it to the internet for other purposes...the government itself can hack into my computer, call me a felon for "using the internet for publicly displaying ITAR controlled data"  the government would  have an excuse to kick my doors down?

Nope.

The information has to be "exported" by making it readily available for access via the Internet.

If you have taken reasonable precautions to limit your network's/computer's exposure to hackers, that's all that's required.

I wouldn't worry about the government hacking you to set you up for arrest --- as long as you vote Democrat and donate regularly to the Clinton Foundation.  :)

I'm sure Hillary will be releasing a new book on "How to Make Your Home Server Hacker-Proof" since she told us her server was never hacked - much better claim than the US Government can make!

Hey all,

I been taking my time and reading in to this and as a person that both watches and has a Youtube channel that deals with firearms reviews Id like to know where we can get our voices heard on this subject.
I submitted a comment through the Iraqvet8888 video but it there someone locally we can get in tough with?

Apparently the government no longer feels the need to have an "excuse" to kick your doors down. They only have to "imagine" that there's an excuse, and it will therefore exist.

They just haven't gotten to you yet.
