i personally dont think it is. the political beliefs and the willingness with which they're expressed turns people off. its not the gun rights, but all the political beliefs that many here assume you HAVE to have if you're going to be a gun owner.
i understand getting on gun owners who dont care about gun rights, but just look at some of the toxic debates that take place on gun forums around the country: abortion, economy, imigration, police brutality, political correctness....its something that, despite how irrelevant it really is to being a gun owner and supporting gun rights, has become very ingrained in our culture and it turns off a lot of new people, even if they share many beliefs.
too many people, both inside and outside the culture, its not enough to buy the gun, you have to buy into all the other prevailing ideas. part of the problem is, we're so used to being loud and opinionated (because we have to to defend our 2A rights) that we lose sight of what things look like to newcomers.
