i think every gun guy/gal needs a revolver.
its super ultra reliable, never a ftf or fte
its very accurate
its very simple to operate, clean and maintain
its a piece of history
and Dirty Harry carried a revolver.   

I have zero revolvers. I have been wanting one for the cool factor and every other reason listed in the post above. Been looking at the gp 100. Just haven't bought one yet because I'm not sure if I'd rather have a 44 mag. or a 357 mag.

My first thought was a ruger 10/22
On second thought , I figured AR pattern rifle
But I agree that a revolver is a great choice too

Whichever gun you're missing is the one you need.

I agree on the revolver. But not because of simplicity or reliability. They are not super reliable. I have broken a few.
They are however, essential for marksmanship training.
A decent 22 rifle is also essential.

I've posted this before.  From a training perspective, every home should have each one of the following as a minimum:

1.  Shotgun - semi-auto or pump action
2.  Rifle #1 - bolt action
3.  Rifle #2 - semi-auto
4.  Revolver - single/double action
5.  Pistol - Semi-auto

If you practice with this assortment, you'll be prepared to operate the majority of commonly owned firearms you may need to use.

Specifically, everyone needs one Glock 9mm.

Why?

Because every gun owner needs to own the baseline by which all other pistols are measured!

 Revolver and lever rifle chambered in the same caliber and a .22LR.
As a kid, always dreamed about owning a Rem. Nylon 66, but never got around to it.

dont have a revolver either. got all the others u listed. just waiting on a good deal. probably 357 so my gf can shoot 38s to. maybe smith and wesson 686?

Switzerland : It was normal for every household to keep their military service firearms, mainly Sig rifles.

Perhaps the following would be needed:

Centerfire and rimfire rifles in various action types - bolt, semi, pump, lever, break-action and falling/rolling block.
Muzzle loading rifle.

The same for shotguns.

Semi-auto pistols of steel, alloy and polymer construction.
Cartridge and black powder revolvers.

Everyone needs one......More.

I'm maybe the only one on this forum who doesn't have an AR......yet

OGC has a sale today thru 2PM Tuesday.

I have the 686+ (7 shot) in 6" bbl.  Great firearm, and more fun to shoot than a .44 Mag for longer than 5 minutes -- unless you like pain!   

You have the choice of shooting .357 ammo or .38 Special, which is cheaper, easier on the hands & wrists, and is great for practice or Home Defense if .357 Mag is a bit more than the shooter can easily manage (wife, kid, dentist...).
