I prefer the bare-back feel of no gloves, hot barrels and brass be damned.

I run Mechanix "Original" and "M-Pact" in Mossy Oak design. 

Been finding them at Hawaii Kai and Kaneohe Ross' the last year or so, great price at $10/pair. 

Mechanic 0.5 is super thin.  Great for pistol handling abrasions.  Great tactile properties.  My preference for handgun class.

Pig is a close 2nd but noticeably thicker. Slightly shorter fingers which work for me. My preference for rifle class.

Durability not great on either due to thinness.  Can't have your cake and eat it too I guess.

Why the need for gloves? Shooting full power 44 or 50 cal pistols?
Consider backing down on the load. I broke several guns shooting lots of full power ammo.

Gloves are mostly being used these days for protection of the hands when it comes to heat transfer from the ultra light alum rails on these M4 space carbines these kids are totin, or protection from doing all that funky tactical stuff on the ground.  Not really being used due to high power pistols.

I have several glove types, but the last 2 sets I have picked up on sale for a good price were the Mechanix M-Pact.  Seem to be good gloves.

The answer really depends on what you intend to use it for and the problem(s) you are trying to address with the gloves; heat, cold, rough grip texture or show. A little more detail would be helpful.

Don't really use gloves too often locally but I don't run my firearms very hard here either.   During CONUS desert shoots I'll use either O.R./Mechanix during cold weather or an old pair of my flight gloves during the summer months (nomex).  Also use my trusty old nomex gloves (flight or CVC type) if shooting AK's for any real length of time as well as shooting anything suppressed (especially SBR's), both get pretty warm and the leather does seem to help some

I generally cut off the thumb and the index finger at the first joint.
