I would suggest you have one spokes person that will do the talking for the group. So if the public engages, the news interviews start, or whoever approaches, you have one voice and one message. You will lose all credibility if you have diverse messages. Just a suggestion.  :shaka:

What's the message?

We are here to support the right to protect ourselves and our loved ones, and possibly the public, with concealed carry.
As many recent events have shown us, when seconds count, police are only minutes away.
The current Police Chief has not and does not approve any concealed carry permits even for trained and upstanding citizens.
The odds that a responsible citizen will ever need to use their concealed firearm would be rare.
But like President Obama said, if we can prevent one incident it is a success.
Also studies show that in States with concealed carry there is a correlation in a drop in violent crimes.

That's my message and why I'm not talking.

I nominate Tom G. This was his idea.
And he's experienced with the media.

Suggestions on messages ?

I've got a double sided sign in the works.
"Today I exercise my 1st ammendment right , the 2nd ammendment made it possible"
And the backside ...."gun control isn't about guns, it's about control"

Sign in one hand , flag in the other. No holster, no pc (edit:plate carrier)

My friend is a newscaster for khon and said reporters will be there to cover opening ceremony and the agenda. I told him about the rally and he said he'd tell the reporter to go talk to someone. I'm not sure I can make it, but whoever the spokesperson is should be prepared with a statement.

What does everyone think about the empty holster thing for this occasion ?

I'm not sure this State is ready for it in a group setting at the Capitol and I'm still worried about backlash because she's a bitch and tends to hang around for a long time.
I just don't want to set the momentum back.
If we get ccw no one would see a holster.

I'll certainly do it if it's in our best interest, but just wondering what other members think

Just seems we might seem intimidating and turn people off to our cause

Concealed carry is different from open carry.

And we want them to lift the ban. Not keep the Status Quo.

The message should be something you all agree upon. For instance I suggest you may want to say that all we want is for the Chief of Police Kealoha to abide by the court's ruling and start handing out CCW permits.

Right now we are waiting for the appeal to the ruling. So does he have the right to deny us CCW permits while we wait for the decision in the appeals case? I wouldn't think so because would he not be in violation of the most recent court order by not following the letter of the law?

Or the self defense and family defense are good messages to push if the one above is too technical or lengthy.

Either way if you get 5 different protesters asked the same question and answered it 5 different ways you will appear unorganized and probably not taken very seriously. If it is true you will be there in small numbers you will want to present yourselves as professional and courteous and in tune with each other as possible. No one knows how unorganized this protest is right now. Otherwise ridicule on the part of the media can be more hurtful than one might think.

Yes. Aieahound asked for "what message?" and I gave him two suggestions.

I'm sticking with the CCW theme, small signs no huge banner or anything, would need help with that.  Got a concept just need to make prototypes :)
The first year my wife and I made extra signs and handouts - pro 2a graphic one side, NRA membership info on the other.  Others brought extra flags to hand out.  It was a great moment with everyone out there cheering and making noise lining both sides of the street!  I expect this first showing more low key as we see what new stuff if any going to be proposed.
Assault Rifle? What I have here is an Anti-Assault Rifle.

Most people in Hawaii have no idea what a holster looks like to begin with and at this point it's just an article of clothing anyways, completely harmless.  protected by the First Amendment as well?
I think crossing the line is when something that looks like a gun is placed in it.  then pandora's box is opened.  a bright orange screwdriver, not so much.  I think.  depends what the definition of is, is?  haha.  ouch.

Maybe we should fill our holsters with dildos.

I mean, every town for gun safety did it.

The 2A message would be overshadowed by the LGBT supporters stopping by to see what's going on!

Maybe a unifies message is the best way. Here is my input on what that message could be.

"Don't make us ask for permission to excersize our rights"

Or maybe a question form, "why do we have to ask for permission to use our rights?"

Then some sort of image of a firearm.

I'm in agreement with Aiea78 on this one. Most people won't even know what it is without explanation.

Backlash from what? The fact that we've been effectively disarmed?

The fact that we have the unmitigated gall to stand up because we're being denied our constitutionally protected rights?

Or will it be from the fact that we're speaking the truth.

The entire purpose of wearing an empty holster is to bring attention to this.

Imposing political correctness on the argument about our 2nd Amendment rights is what will doom our efforts to failure.

Those that are perpetually intimidated or offended, will find something to dislike about us regardless. Even if we put fluffy bunnies in our holsters and sing "kumbaya" while handing out flowers.

My opinion: Don't worry about it. If we're pissing those people off we must be doing something right.

Im leaning with aieahound on this one. I prefer no open holsters on this one.
