Meanwhile, back on the mainland....
« on: January 17, 2016, 06:34:13 AM »
More higher-up Law Enforcement Officers ( heriffs, Police Chiefs) seem to be advocating an armed populace to reduce crime:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/15/growing-number-police-chiefs-sheriffs-join-call-to-arms.html

At least one of them is waiving the Sheriff's Department fees for licensing.

Maybe your folks running Hawaii politics and law enforcement ought to listen up!

Get with the program !

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

Historically Sheriffs have leaned pro gun rights, the article states.
One must note that historically the Sheriff is elected, but not here in the Republik.
Too bad. Elected law enforcement would be a good thing

Our local Sheriff is pro-gun, though he is constrained by the political climate here

One thing to note also is that on the mainland you have Sheriffs that are taking care of a "county" and yes they are traditionally elected.  In many states you have regions of that state or counties where the local communities are on complete opposite polar ends of what they believe in and elect accordingly.  Hawaii is so entrenched in its current belief system that it is the overwhelming majority statewide.  Even in the pockets of areas that may hold opposing views, you still have one "Statewide" Sheriff.

I conflict with pretty much the overwhelming majority of the political views held by those here in office but that is the reality of what we face.  Not saying that I just lie down and accept it as I do what I can, but it is that deep here.  Add to that, as Gordy mentions, we have appointed officials, which is almost always going to fall in line with the current political stance of the actual elected officials.  If you had an appointee that exercised a differing opinion, they would not make it very long.  I am pretty sure that even if the Sheriff was an "elected" position, it would not change the situation.  Hawaii needs a change from the ground up.

Today's front page of Star Advertiser.   Clinton enjoys large large lead in Hawaii presidential poll.  That alone tells you how most of the population in Hawaii are sheeple looking for government handouts and protection and anti-gun.

I think its laziness & complacency. From my experience a lot of people dont take the time or make an effort to really understand issues at hand. Either too busy or pawn it off as someone else will take care of it....till it directly affects them in their wallet. For most, if it doesnt affect their paycheck - then it doesnt matter.

This is why I wish we would dissolve the current C&C model.

They are still on the Plantation, but the Plantation is gone. Maui Cane is done. The plantation is finished, but the word is not out yet. Hawaii should be a whole new world.
The new Oligarchy is the Democratic party and their willing accomplices in the unions and media instead of the Big 5. Actually not so new, from the ' 50s.The Oligarchy rules without opposition as before.

This is a direct result of all the Asian people being mistreated since the plantation days, and them getting back at the big five following the democratic revolution of 1954, which was a major reason why we became a state in 1959 and why the democrats have so much power: because Asians, Hawaiians and liberal minded idiots were indoctrinated to believe that the democrats did and do so much good for Hawai'i prior to, during and following the democratic revolution.

Ignorant Hawaiian history teachers like to put out false information and make it seem that it was ONLY white people who voted Hawaii into being a state, but it was due in part to a large Asian population who felt that they could obtain better rights and freedoms by becoming American.

Seems to me that the plantations are still alive and well, but now they are called Unions.

A friend from NY who lived here for a few years and was involved in numerous schemes and scams (don't judge me, I got bit by one as well) said something shocking to me one day. "The people who live in Hawaii are sheep."

At the time I was falling in love with the place and how relaxed and friendly everyone was and didn't want to hear it, but over the years I have come to realize that a substantial number are definitely following the herd. They'll stand in line for hours for a ramen burger, financial scams ripple through the community at a shocking pace, they pile on to the same overcrowded beaches and hiking trails, drive giant trucks and SUV's that don't make any sense for most people and actually make city driving more difficult/dangerous, and my favorite was the Power Balance that all the surfers were pimping for a while before someone pointed out that a piece of plastic junk strapped to your wrist doesn't make you better at anything but wasting money.

I did notice something else that he missed though. Once they figure out they wake up then some sort of radical change is inevitable. From the anti-union violence of the early 1900's to the bronzed aussies on the north shore running for their lives in the 1970's to the more recent unfortunate remarks from a couple visiting actors who were forced to leave or offer profuse apologies, it's pretty obvious to me that one day things will get bad enough with the entrenched Democrats that a sea change will take place on the same level as the other big shake-ups in Hawaii's history.

The people of Hawaii are slow to stir and will shrug off much injustice in the status quo, but once roused they are a force to be reckoned with.
