"Enclosed container" as defined in HRS 134-25
« on: January 26, 2016, 03:27:21 PM »
HRS 134-25 says:
Quote
"Enclosed container" means a rigidly constructed receptacle, or a commercially manufactured gun case, or the equivalent thereof that completely encloses the firearm.
My question: Does a range bag qualify as an "enclosed container"? In particular, I own this range bag: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00O49WP60/?tag=2ahawaii-20
Does that qualify as an "enclosed container"?

Thanks in advance.

Includes 2 handgun pouches.
Commercially manufactured gun case.
I'd say you're good to go.

+1   but depends on the cop's "interpretation" of  HRS 134-25 and the word "or".   :shake:
I can fit 3-4 my gun 'Lunch boxes" in my Range bag along with eyes, ears and EMPTY mags.

    Better safe than sorry.
If you do, make sure mags are not in the bag loaded.
Hell, I would't even have ammo in the bag with the guns ( HRS something or other).

Nothing wrong with using the bag you linked to.  It's a commercially produced, enclosed gun container.

I'd say that you're good to go as well with that bag.  That is assuming that you store the gun completely inside the bag and not sticking out like that display bag in the link. Haha   ;D

I have a similar bag where I store my handgun(s) in a flat pouch/bag that fits inside the main compartment.  The "commercially manufactured" part is what I'm counting on.  When I have more guns that fit in the flat pouch, I have the guns in gun rugs.

The "or the equivalent thereof" is where I've seen people take pretty liberal interpretations.

That seems to include the cardboard box it came in, or the backpack you happened to have in the pick up truck when you picked the gun up from a buddy.

The cardboard gun box and even a backpack are some of the more "legit" ones that I've seen.  I've seen someone bring a rifle into a LGS in what looked like an old sweater.

Yeah, I've done the cardboard box thing a bunch of times.  At least from the LGS to HPD and home.  See a lot of that when going to HPD and once in a while at Koko Head.  I been to HPD to register a stripped lower that was in bubble wrap and in a plastic grocery bag once.  :P

How many of you use gun socks to transport your guns?  Like the one below.
