W.VA. overrides gov. veto, Constitutional Carry in 90 days
« on: March 05, 2016, 01:50:45 PM »
The Constitutional carry bill was introduced this year by Saira Blair, a nineteen year-old woman who is the youngest elected state legislator in the United States. The bill includes a "provisional carry" license for persons 18-21 who have undergone a training course (so Ms. Blair can carry under her law). It also includes a $50 tax credit for anyone who undergoes training. The governor claimed, of course, that he vetoed the bill for "public safety" concerns, even though all the states having Constitutional carry have had no record of any kind of problems. In West Virginia only a majority vote is required to override a governor's veto, and the bill had already passed originally with large majorities in both chambers, and on the veto override vote passed again in the senate by 23-11, after the house had previously overridden by a 64-33 vote. It goes into effect in 90 days.

In other words, West Virginia is nearly the exact opposite of Hawaii.

I hope one day Hawaii joins the United States of America.

If others would do more than just talk about what they would do on 2a, it could become a reality.

Gun control group ‘livid’ about permitless carry

Good article yesterday on the W. Virginia veto override for constitutional carry wherein Moms Demand whines and cries and the state Attorney General (the exact opposite of the Hawaii Attorney General, I might add) basically said the Governor who vetoed the bill is full of sh*t for claiming constitutional carry endangers public safety (it hasn't in the seven other states where it's existed in some cases for many years):

State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey downplayed the Governor’s public safety argument, saying, “As the chief legal officer of the state and the person in charge of criminal matters for the state at the WV Supreme Court and in federal courts, I know that this legislation will not impact public safety. If this bill is enacted, we will not only expand freedom, but we will keep our citizens protected.”

I open carried in W. VA.
No one in the malls gave a hoot. It's already a very common sight around their neck of the woods.
