So the guy upsetting the (corruption-filled) applecart gets fired. What's the problem? It makes perfect sense that one needs to get the approval of (possible/likely) corrupt government employees to investigate other (possible/likely) corrupt employees. I mean, that does make sense doesn't it? Just like the fox guarding the hen house. What's with all the hate? These loyal government workers are underpaid and deserve to steal, commit fraud and sexual assault as compensation for their paltry salaries. They are, after all, our "public servants".

PS. I bet a helluva lot more than "a dozen" DLNR-seized firearms have "gone missing" in the past 20 years. Probably boating accidents as they were being transported to safe storage.

PPS Preview of post (likely) to appear shortly: "Well, we don't really know what happened. It's possible that some non-government employee (janitor, etc.) stole the guns from storage, and manipulated the time cards, and submitted questionable procurement orders and pretended to be a DLNR officer in elaborate makeup impersonating a real officer who then sexually assaulted someone, etc., etc., etc.."

no but we should be outraged that we are scrutinized heavily to maintain safe storage and place-to-keep while the very same govt. is blatantly negligent with their responsibilities.
The govt. should be held to the same standard as the people they govern.

Met Tommy back in the 70's at PHNSY, up and up guy.   Ige needs to step in and force Case to resign and audit DLNR.  Can expect a lot of HGEA commercials to flood the TV stations.  Change "da culcha" David.

Yeah, if only that were anything close to reality. As David Codrea writes, "It's a big club. And you ain't in it!"  "Fast and Furious" gun running, IRS politically-motivated audits, "Operation Chokepoint" denying financial services to firearms dealers, etc. etc. etc., and on the local level Billy Kenoi. There are obviously different (no?) standards for the elite "only ones", and I don't see how things are ever gonna change.  >:(

Darn, I would have thought by now most people on this site realized that the Government of Hawaii is
above the law. Cops can kill, rape, and sell drugs,  Politicians can steal and cheat, bureaucrats can operate businesses on
county properties, all without penalty.  It is just us fools that obey the law that suffer.  I'm beginning to wonder if going
back to the monarchy might not be better than this Democrat run "paradise".

Haven't you been keeping up?  The implication of all these revelations is that the police force is "cleaning house!"  It's an increase in "transparency", and an obvious improvement in finding and weeding out the bad apples!

The more stories we see about crooked cops and misconduct, the better things are getting!!

LOL!!

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

No longer outraged, just plain disgusted with the hypocrisy within our govt here..

Why do you think HPD destroyed their firearms ?
Couldn't account for all of the ones missing.
Be nice to see a list of the firearms originally purchased along with the list of firearms allegedly destroyed.
