Move

Is the answer from my mainland buddies because of laws like RapBak.
My response is that why should I give up and move. Then these anti 2a peeps win.
Anyone else consider moving?

I'm asking because I'd really like to know....

Are there examples where our gun rights have increased?  Not just an example of where it was restricted and see the people got our rights back, or an example of legislation we fought back, a shining example where we gained another piece of cake.

Honestly wondering, have we stopped the slow erosion?

So you were lying about wondering before? Kidding. I tease people who say thatoften. "But honestly..." Then I ask if they were lying to me before.
With every publicized shooting there is always a reason to take another piece of cake. How can you stop a fat kid from cake? Nom nom. Impossible.

In other states yes, in Hawaii no

This is my point.

There is a MAJOR shortage of logic in gubmint. I'm not saying move, but I could see why people move or at least want an option of looking to move/acquiring a second residence in another state.

Nope.  In for the long haul.  Good, bad or otherwise.   Let it come to a head.

I would if I could. But financially and family wise it would be darn near impossible.  I'm staying, I'm fighting!

The closer I get to retirement, the less comfortable I get thinking of spending all my retirement money each month trying to survive in this cost-of-living sinkhole!

Why support a state that's hell bent on zapping every penny they can from us peons for government programs that reward unions, yet still can't figure out how to install A/C in schools!  I bet the legislators aren't sweating in their chambers!

I've often considered it. Primarily for finacial reasons and of course to a 2A friendly state. At the end to the day I am a local boy to the core. Born and raised. I fish a lot and love the outdoors. The beach and the ocean is a big part of my life. Love the food and for the most part the local people. I say that because I have experienced much more Aloha from the mainlanders especially in the more rural areas than here on Oahu. Big Island people still amaze me with their huge Aloha everytime I go.

We as locals have our share of problems though. The Hawaii people are "comfortable" and afraid of change yet they bitch about the same dumb chit our politicians do year after year. Things here will defintiely get a lot worse before they improve. The people of Hawaii have not hit rock bottom yet. Hopefully the rail fiasco will be that.

Firearm wise, those that have travelled to 2A friendly states can attest to the fact that the mindset here if VERY different than that of a firearm friendly state. I could go on and on....

At great risk of having my comments pulled or offending

Have to agree with Bushido, the big island reminds me of what Oahu used to be when I came here 38 years ago. I've considered moving to the mainland but the wife would never go for it. I'll be staying and fighting, seems like we're on the front lines now.

Hawaii is like a prostitute.  No matter how many times you try to save her, she still keeps going back to that same pimp:  the Democrat Party.

I think about it from time to time but I haven't figured out a line I would draw where I would actually pack up and move. Hawaii would really have to go to sh!t for me to move.

I would move to the ninth Hawaiian Island but too expensive to move all our animals.  In the meantime, I am much happier on the Big Island than I was on Oahu.  At least here I can just load up my guns on the atv and drive a 100 yards into my backyard and fire away.

Last time I went to Big Island we went to Waimea and nearly fell in love with the small town feeling. Good sized lots, nice weather, and enough rural without being too rural. Hard to move away from what we know but I am sure we would make a home for ourselves eventually.

Like many, I have considered moving due to job offers, better cost of living, etc...The areas that I have strongly considered provide excellent outdoors activities, especially hunting and fishing.  The 2A friendliness is important but since the jobs would revolve around that, the 2A friendly locations come with it.  Even though I am getting pretty tired of the congestion on Oahu, I do have the ability to get fairly remote with space around me on the Big Island, so that helps to keep me sane.  Nothing however is certain and all options are always on the table.

I love Hawaii. Can't beat the year round warm water surf.  I love the ocean, hope to take up 3-prong one day, swimming, and hiking. I love the food, the culture, and the people for the most part.

That being said, it's crazy how you have to make GOOD money here and be frugal, yet it doesn't seem to go that far.

I used to think I'd never leave, but lately I've been chronic on Jim Collins investing site, MMM, gocurrycracker, and the like. If one could pay off their house quickly, one could easily cash out on the high, cash out on a property on the mainland and still have money left over for a condo/hotel vacation rental. Life's too short to be chasing a living for 20-30 years of your prime years.

To me that would be awesome.  To be FI, have stream of income coming from Hawaii, and a free place to stay a few days a month.

Best of both worlds. Too bad it will take a decade or so to get there.

Before I had discussed with my wife about moving to the Cedar City area of Utah or even LV.  However over 3 years ago life took a different turn and now I plan to stay here till my day comes.
There is a slight chance I may end up in the south eastern part of VA if that what life brings.   Think it is more 2A friendly than some northern VA counties..

If I made the decision to move then I would probably head to Washington. Got some family and they have more gun rights. Not the best weather but I vis it regularly and it is sort of a second home.
