Reis has 39 prior arrests, including 22 felonies, five convictions which include abuse of a family member, assaulting a police officer, and a burglary case in which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2003.

Then he was arrested in 2011 for robbery.  Obviously he has displayed obvious signs of rehabilitation to get released early and return to a life of being a stand up citizen.    [end sarcasm]

This is what i was talking about last night, Laws only work when there is a fear of the consequence.

Just another poor misunderstood kid who grew up in difficult circumstances. It's not his fault for "acting out". Had the state given him a greater monthly income and provided better housing and automobiles and drugs for him he would likely have caused less trouble. Let's put the blame where it belongs: you and me, for not taking better care of this poor soul.

He had prior arrests for firearms violations (in addition to the three new firearms violations) and for impersonating a police officer, and he was out on bail awaiting sentencing for other crimes he had committed.
Spooky that there are guys like him carrying guns (illegal guns) and have no problem shooting you for a simple disagreement or maybe even looking at them the "wrong" way.

When I brought this case up to Sen Espero last night and how he needs to focus on these guys, not the law abiding gun owners, his response was "it's not a perfect system".  :wtf:

Espero's response, "it's not a perfect system," is pathetically weak and flippant, the equivalent of a brush off.

Espero and Major Robinson know there's little hope for criminals like the Burger King argument shooter. However, it's easy, no wait, much easier, to target law abiding citizens with these senseless laws because it's the good people who will comply, not the crooks.

The reasons they try to push for these laws are the following:
- Build public perception that they, as elected or high-ranking public officials, are actually doing something to protect the public.
- Take advantage of the cry for more laws created by the recent Orlando nightclub shooting.
- Boost their careers.

Sad that this Rap Back will do just about nothing to prevent crime. What a waste of time and effort.

When I brought this case up to Willie Nillie Espero last night and how he needs to focus on these guys, not the law abiding gun owners, his response was "it's not a perfect system".  :wtf:

He forgot to add "And my response to these imperfections, such as having recidivists released time after time after time to victimize more and more people is to submit, and pass laws I have neither fully read nor fully understand to deny the rights of, and criminalize, law-abiding citizens. How'm I doin'?"

To add: most, if not all notable gun crimes, except the Xerox shooting, seem to have been committed by folks using unregistered guns and/or used by individuals who were already prohibited from owning/possessing firearms.

According to a recent article by John Lott, his citation of studies interviewing convicted prisoners is that only 1% of those criminals ever even attempted to acquire a firearm legally. I know... "if it saves just one life". Then motor vehicles would have a maximum possible speed of 20 mph? Then knives would be banned? No gasoline (See: HappyLand, etc.) could be acquired other than directly into a motor vehicle with a siphon-proof tank? Oh, wait, I mean, you gotta jump through x number of government hoops and pay y number of dollars to temporarily own a firearm from the approved list.

I take that answer to mean one does not know what to do. But instead of admitting they don't know what to do they say it isn't perfect, which is technically true.

Everyone system can be improved, problem is that the answer isn't as easy or obvious as we would like it.

Generally someone just has to post 10% to the bail company. Bigger ones I think they end up taking collateral.
