Legal to part out gun?

I  apologize if this is a dumb question.
Could a complete registered firearm like a Glock for example, be sold as a slide assembly and frame  separately?
Reason for asking is if guns started being confiscated could you turn in only the registered part with the serial numbers?  Could you keep the other parts of the firearm legally?
Another way to look at it is if you register a AR Lower,  will they expect to take your upper also. And if you  registered a complete rifle, could you just turn in the lower?  :geekdanc:

yes,

I ship my gun parts via USPS as they do not accept handgun from non FFL.  (Flat Rate boxes)

Then I travel with just the handgun  receiver on the commercial flight, ( 25lb per bag.)

An excellent point, since I've only registered the lower and that's the serialized part of the gun that would be the only part I would need to turn in. The same should apply to any firearm.
Always be yourself.
Unless you can be a pirate.
Then always be a pirate.

I believe the key word there is "should". You forget that the government typically does not think that means what you think it means. They will just take everything and let you sort it out in court for 10 years and a couple hundred thousand dollars (See: Peruta, et. al.). They probably have "a verbal policy". Or something.
