Urge Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D) to Oppose ALL Gun Control This Week

A couple of weeks ago, Democrats made a mockery of the House by sitting on the floor, whining, and, metaphorically, holding their breath until they turned blue.
In response, House Speaker Paul Ryan gave these petulant children exactly what they want:  a vote to impose gun control.

The House is epected to vote this week on anti-gun legislation (H.R. 5611) that is similar to bills that were already voted on in the Senate -- a proposal that would allow Attorney General Loretta Lynch to impose a gun ban against people who have committed no crimes, but nevertheless, are on a government watch list.

Of course, the Orlando shooter was not on a “no fly,” “selectee,” or even a consolidated watch list.

He was exonerated by the FBI. He passed background checks. He bought his guns legally in a gun store. Every single gun control law that had been put in place to stop terrorists like him failed.
But there is one thing that would have stopped him. If the Pulse night club had NOT been a gun-free zone, lives could have been saved -- as evidenced by concealed carriers who successfully protected lives last year at a Youngstown, Ohio bar and, more recently, at a bar in South Carolina.

Of course, anti-gun Democrats ignore examples of good people using their guns to stop mass shootings.  And, they ignore the fact that the Orlando gunman openly admitted he was killing in support of ISIS.

Gun Owners of America opposes this legislation, and they are rating both the “rule” and the bill as anti-gun.

There is not one thing in H.R. 5611 that would have stopped the Orlando shooter from engaging in his ISIS-inspired terror attack.

  Thank you for contacting me regarding gun control, I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

                            In the past few years, mass shootings have become commonplace in our American society. All across the country tragic shootings   have occurred,   from Aurora, CO to Newtown, CT. In response, the US House and Senate have considered a wide range of legislative proposals to reduce gun violence. Two of the most popular proposals are requiring background checks for all people buying a weapon   and reinstating and strengthening laws against semiautomatic weapons. None of these measures were able to pass their respective houses and both the Senate and House decided to keep federal gun legislation at the status quo.

                            I do respect the rights of legal gun owners; people have a right to own guns for protection or for hunting.     But important laws must be put in place to help safeguard our  keiki  and provide a safe environment throughout our public school system.   In Hawaii, we already have some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country.   As a result of this, according to the Centers for Disease Control Fatal and Non-Fatal Injury Database, Hawaii has the lowest firearm injury and death rate in the country.

I understand the feeling for a need to do something about the illegal use of firearms across this great nation, It is extremely alarming to see these mass shootings occurring time and time again. the problem i have is that all of the law proposed do very little to target the source of these crimes. Mass shootings continent to growing in an alarming rate because we have created a narcissistic society where every one feel they should be the center of attention and when they are not they choose to act out to get this attention. We have created a situation where people worship reality tv stars for no other reason then they are on tv. When these mass shootings happen we create a whirlwind of media coverage around them turning these evil people into stars and giving them there 5 minutes of fame. Banning a certain class of firearm (that is responsible for less then 1% of all gun deaths in the united states) will not stop these shootings from happening and will not contribute to a decline in gun violence overall. In fact the first real school shooting (Columbine) happened during the assault weapon bans with weapons were obtained illegal via straw purchases. these events happen in schools for a reason, These people plan out there attacks knowing that there is little to no threat to there safety, We teach our children to run and hide instead of allowing teachers and trained officials to fight back and end a institution before it results in the death of children. If the government of this nation really cared we would be funding training and firearms education in schools, we would be providing security and police officers in our schools and we would be preventing these situations from happening instead of disarming law abiding citizens.

An assault weapon ban as the 1992 ban showed is ineffective at combating gun violence as figures show gun violence actually increased during the ban and infact since the ban ended the number of firearms in the united states has doubled but yet the gun death rate has decreased to all time lows. Passing laws which are ineffective for feel good reasons is deceptive to the public and creates a situation that shows the ineptness of our government.

Lets enforcer the laws that we have on the books before we start making new ones that do NOTHING to solve the situation. Lets stop glorifying these shooter and making the celebrity and take away the motivation for these incidents to happen and most importantly of all lets stop putting our children in to gun free zones where these crazy people can go and kill them with no protection
