Desert Tech affiliated with polygamy cult?
« on: September 11, 2016, 08:00:25 PM »
Saw a show on A&E that seemed to indicate Desert Tech is affiliated with the Kingston Clan, an apparent polygamist group. Has anyone heard of this Kingston clan? I know some of the DT members' last name is Kingston. And I found this:

http://kingstonclan.com/business

Wondering if you guys have heard of this, through Google some other gun forums have brought it up.  I was very strongly considering an MDR but if this is true, there's no way I'm supporting child abusers not to mention their many other crimes. A few background articles for those interested:

How does one associate polygamy with child abuse?  ???

Polygamy is the taking of multiple brides.

To not support a company whose employees condone or participate in child abuse is one thing, but to not support them because of having multiple wives makes no sense.

They have a couple of employees whose last names are Kingston? Yes, - does it mean DT is a Kingston owned business? Not really.  This is the same company that turned down a $15,000,000 precision rifle contract with the Pakistani Army because they were concerned the rifles would fall into the wrong hands and be used against our own troops.
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

Did you bother to read any of the articles? They're basically another Warren Jeffs group. I really don't care about how many wives you have so long as it's consenting adults but this goes way beyond that. Way beyond.

No, a last name doesn't tie them but there are a lot of suggestions that they are affiliated. I'm may straight up ask them.

The owner of kahr arms father is the head of some kind of cult.  The son is a 2A supporter, CCW proponent, and an avid shooter.

I bought a Kahr, and like it alot.

Would need overwhelming proof of those claims.  I highly doubt those are true. Also I highly doubt desert tech is playing an active role.  Other than that I could care less.  They seem like a great  company with good people.

What's new? All gun owners are evil and bad, right?

I mean, the news has been telling that to us for years. I'm sure they do excellent research before making their claims.

They weren't singled out, they were one of many linked to this group. It is of particular interest to me as I am a potential customer, I don't care about the other companies.

No one is telling me what to think, I'm trying to get to the truth.

I will give them a chance to respond and post their reply if one is given. Should they choose not to respond, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Plenty of good companies out there.

This is 'Murica a free country if you don't want to purchase an awesome gun cause "muh feelings" you are entitled to do so.  Do you really think they have some kids in their state of the art factory building rifles?  If anything maybe they got a loan or some workers are related or maybe know a few people, I mean its a small state population wise.  Not that big of a deal.

Why are you so defensive? You want a shiny new gun and are willing to turn a blind eye, go ahead. Stop trying to rationalize it to me. It's an issue to me so I will look into it further. You clearly have done zero research so if anything its you who are going by "feeling."

If they are really engaging in unwholesome behavior I definitely support you taking business elsewhere.

I am just reflexively wary of these types of news stories for good reason, as I am sure everyone understands.

Both buyers and sellers should have freedom to engage or disengage in commerce of their own free will.

Did I not say I would give them the chance to address the allegations? Other than that, what would you have me do?
