FYI
Was at Sam's Club (Honolulu) today and noticed they had a new product on the floor.  "Pelican" style hard cases for ~$20.  Very similar to the Pelican 1300 Series.  Marked as Sam's Club's "Members Mark" brand.  Made in China, but it has a very decent build quality.  I'm a Pelican case fanboy and these in my mind are great for the price.  They don't have the double throw latches or the automatic purge valve as Pelican's do, but they come with a manual valve, three layers of foam (lid, top layer, bottom layer), one of the layers are "pick and pluck," and it has the same removable ID nameplate that Pelican does. 

Again for the price my initial impressions are VERY positive.  Not sure if I'd trust my most critical gear to it, but for a "throw-in-the-back-of-the-truck" case its a winner.  If you're interested in this kind of stuff I'd recommend picking one up to play with.

Hey no problem.  I try to avoid random purchases, but I really couldn't resist for the price.  Unlike anything I've seen before from either Sams or Costco.

How many handguns do you figure you would fit in there.  With a minimal to moderate amount of gun-tetris?

I would say 4, or 3 with mags, The pick and pluck foam is not as good as the pelican one tho. I will be replacing with the solid foam and cutting it to shape.

If you put them standing upbarrel and grip down, you could fir 8-10 full size pistols in the box.

i dont think you can stand them up that way unless its subcompacts.

i have a case designed to hold 4 pistols+ mags that way, and it is around 9 inches interior height. if this case is 7" external then no way will it fit a glock 17 in that configuration. my case will barely contain an m&p with a threaded barrel. remember that u want ample padding on the top and bottom plus the 7 inch pistol.


this case is good for the price but it only has an ip55 rating. most firearm accessories are ip66 or ip67 rating. meaning the sams club case is not airtight and only good for light to medium passing rain. dust and moisture get in if windy. better for protecting something from bumps then from the elements. $20 bucks total is cheaper than foam replacements for a pelican lol. deals if u got a use for it. i probably wouldnt put an all steel pistol in there. pick n pluck foam+moisture from not being airtight=rust

Glock 17 with a light fitted, Lid closes, Unless you intnend to throw the case down the stairs or drop it in the ocean, this is fine for storage, How many people store their guns in an air tight container, not many. My guns get used/cleaned to often to sit and get rust.
