Article: "Is Gun Confiscation Coming to Hawaii?"

May be just trying to whip up hysteria, but this article claims : "Hawaii’s new law requires current and future gun owners to register in the FBI’s “Rap Back” system."

That current thing certainly jumped out and other websites are holding it up as the confiscation proof.  From what was thrashed out here, there is no requirement for current owners to do a damn thing, AFAIK.

Politicians want gun control since they fear gun violence.  Confiscation will and SHOULD create a self fulfilling prophesy.   Like Russian roulette who will be the first state to try this.   If the people roll over, then other states will do it.   CA is a cancer to this country.

No argument, what bothers me is this interpretation that current owners, not new permit applicants, would be required to "register"

Of course, the HPD can do whatever it wants with records it already has, even if illegal.  Who will stop them?

The implication here was an active registration by current owners was to be done  I suspect, other than the usual sheep, that would be largely ignored.

I don't see that current owners who are not applying for a new permit or registering a firearm would be forced to register once rapback is implemented.   If that's the case I would agree that most would not follow.   The way I see it, if it's not in black and white, it's not for real regardless of what politicians think the intent is.

The day after Hitlery gets elected Josh Green will introduce a bill to
confiscate all registered guns, it will pass, get signed into law,
and approved by the courts.

This state is ruled by Democrats and your personal
rights do not have any meaning to them.  It is a waste of time
to talk to them.
Prepare,  yourself for SWAT attacks.

I'm voting for Pedro !

Hope you don't really think your vote for President counts in this great State of Hawaii.
It's over before our polls close.

I'm not sure what Pedro's stance on 2A is though.  ???

(Rapback sucks, how do we get it repealed)

Im not a lawyer (its amazing how often i have to say that) BUT.....

Its my understanding that Rapback has not been passed into law, What was passed into law was the requirement that the background checks be performed by the AG's Criminal Justice Division. Who according to my research do not have the legal authority to share the data with the FBI. Unless they passed a law changing that last session that i missed ? (keep an eye out for it this session)

How does the grounds for a lawsuit look on this one? Consulted any lawyer yet?

I'm confused.
At this time, is RapBack included with new registration or not ?

Thanks guys, but "depends " and "From what I understand" is not verification either way.
And does merely applying for a long gun permit put you in RapBack ?

Anybody else know FOR SURE ?
Quick, the gun shows coming up !

If there were a gun confiscation, it won't be cops going door to door grabbing guns.  They'll make it grandfathered so those that have them already can keep them, however they can't be sold or transferred.  They'll start off small with assault rifles, then semiauto handguns and rifles, then other stuff.  That'll placate everyone so there will be less opposition to it while meeting the end goal of removing all guns.

Police would be all for that.  Police do a good job at controlling crime, however they don't respect peoples rights because they want to...they do it because they have to.

Police do not control crime.  They collect revenue when you commit a civil infraction, eg a speeding ticket.
They write reports  after someone is raped, dead, or robbed, and rarely, but sometimes find the responsible
party to be arrested and tried, but you are still raped or dead, or robbed.  They enforce questionable laws
such as drugs, prostitution, gambling because the government isn't getting its "cut". Revenue thing again
Police don't prevent crime, they document it.
As far as your rights, you and only you can defend those.   A Cops job is to ask, tell, and then force you
to do what they decide you need to do.  They get a vacation after they shoot you and chances are
they will get off Scott free.
Avoid police at all cost. Never talk to them without a lawyer present.

Rather cynical and inaccurate. You are correct that they cite people which does bring in revenue to the government but they don't make the laws. Ask a cop how many stupid laws they have to enforce that the legislature passed without thinking. When some pedestrian gets hit, whats the first thing people do? Go complain about why the police aren't making the roads safe enough. Then cops go out and cite and there is a backlash about all these people getting citations. Some people will never be satisfied.

But cops do prevent crime. When they catch a suspect (not that rare) they often are preventing future crime by that suspect. They also occasionally catch people in the act of violent or property crime. They arrest drunk driver's regularly as well. Keep in mind that alcohol is a factor in about 50% of all traffic fatalities.

Yes, cops get paid leave after a shooting. This serves multiple purposes including time to investigate, assessment of the officer, a chance for the officer to process what has happened and seek support services, etc. And they get off scott free most the time because probably 98% of police shootings are justified.
