Black Friday 1st Timer
« on: November 08, 2016, 03:00:17 PM »
How do most shops conduct their sales, if any?

I'm interested in looking at ammo and maybe some other gear like mags, ear/eye protection.

Does it get crazy? Stand in line overnight? Just wondering what to expect, I've never done any kind of Black Friday shopping in my life.

Any shops seem to be better than others? I'd like to stay town side but will travel.

Or, is Cyber Monday better for gear? Was thinking of sights for my G19 and AR.

Thanks for any input on your past experiences this time of year.

I bought my first gun in Hawaii from OGC on a Black Friday sale many years ago.  Since then, I believe they'll sometimes post sales, but I sort of recall it not being an every year thing.  Either that, I didn't have any $$$ some of those years and didn't want to get tempted.   ;D  From when they did have sales, I recall them being pretty good pricing wise.  I haven't checked out other local shops on Black Friday.  I HATE crowds and am willing to pay a little more than endure the craziness that comes with Black Friday.

I'll usually keep an eye out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday online sales for stuff like mags and other accessories.  Particularly for AR parts and stuff like optics.  I bought an Aimpoint PRO one year on a Cyber Monday sale.

You can check this website under "vendors" and sometimes they post their Black Friday sale list.

Other than that use ogctactical Twitter and xring security Twitter and sechawaii.com.

Black Friday vs cyber Monday... Whole different issue! For example... Midwayusa may give a better deal on cyber Monday than Black Friday while brownells is vice versa. Just got to take a risk .. I've had that happen to me before. But in the end I just say to myself.. "Atleast I didn't pay their normal price or atleast I saved a few bucks" LOL!!!!

Good luck in your search!

the skd tactical sale that i posted earlier in "deals and sales" is the best their prices are going to get
usually, they do a increasing discount over the t-givens weekend, but you run the risk of them running out of stock if you wait until cyber monday for the biggest discount

I may have a sale on AR mags soon as well.   ;D

A couple of different friends did large buys (multiple cases) in anticipation of a Hillary win and a run on stuff like mags.  They offered up the discounted prices to friends and I took a couple of them up on their offers, so have a bunch of stuff en route.  Always good to have them for sure, but I can certainly afford to spread/share the wealth.

I'm kind of wondering if there's going to be a surplus of stuff hitting the market, with resultant price drops... stuff like mags, lowers, etc.  Did the manufacturers ramp up production in anticipation of a Hillary victory, and now will be trying to move inventory?   :D

Same thoughts here, I didn't go crazy - but I did buy some extras in case that I now wish I didn't make such an emotional jump at.

I am in need of mags for ARs though so I'll be looking in the for sale section

I would think so.  I think the AR market was pretty well stocked.  There appeared to be a run on stuff like lowers that seemed to be out or low stock in many places, but there seemed to be plenty of mags available.

I think you'll start seeing a lot more stuff for sale on Craigslist, here, and other online postings.  I picked up a bunch of mags, but I can always use spares and they were for a good price.  I also picked up some in preparation for the worst and knowing that I have friends who think their 2 mags per gun is "good enough".

I picked up some AK mags that I probably would've waited for a few months if it wasn't for the election.  They were priced pretty good, so I went for it.

There are many sites with pretty good pricing already for AR mags.  Depends which mags you prefer, there are different sites.  It was interesting that one site had a sale on them up until midnight the night before the election, then the next day, it was listed as "temporarily out of stock". The stock appeared back in the evening.  Haha.  After they came back up, the price was the same.  I was going to see if they jacked the prices if Hillary won, which is what many sites have done in the past where they jacked up prices after a significant event.

Yeah, I always check that site for sales running from Black Friday and "progresses" to Cyber Monday.  Though the best one this holiday season was likely the 25% off the entire site the day after the election.

a few years ago SEC had a pretty good sale, and some people came REALLY early, not sure if they stayed overnight, but that was the only time i remember there was anything like that

What you think of them, do they perform well?

I bought 6 a few weeks ago, just to get some mags. I also picked up an AR kit too and was thinking of getting more mags, but the pricier ones but Idk those cheap ones have lots of good reviews.

I believe D&H USGI mags are supposed to be good quality.  I have a bunch, but haven't tested any out yet.  $6.99 is a GREAT price.  I think I bought last at $8.99 per mag.  I haven't busted any of these out to test/try as I have a bunch of others that are currently in the rotation.  I will likely bust out 2 to try and test soon, though I expect them to work flawlessly.

I have a bunch of different mags, but my preference is USGI.  I have PMag and those hybrid Lancer mags.  All have worked great.  The only AR mags that I avoid are ProMag.
