This is the first firearm I have owned that has a magazine disconnect, and the process required to break down a MKIII requires multiple trigger pulls.  Yeah, inserting and removing the mag is freaking irritating.  And I am not used to inserting a magazine and pulling the trigger unless I am actually shooting the gun.  It just doesn't feel right, doesn't feel safe to me.

I was going to buy a bushing to remove this stupid device, but after doing some research on how this works, how it goes together, and being the cheap mofo I am, I decided to do a little Bubba-ing.

disclaimer-  don't do this shit to your gun, you probably paid much more for it than I did, and it probably looks much nicer too.

Yeah I get the chills when I have to pull the trigger on a rimfire firearm. The firing pin hits the barrel and peens the firing pin. I have seen more .22 firing pins bent or broken due to this. Not to mention all the abuse of the barrel looks terrible. Yeah, it gets ugly.

I'm too chicken to do any real gun mods myself.  Drop in parts and fitting of sights with a file it about it for me.  So it's always interesting to me what people will do to their firearms.  That said, if I had a beater/project gun, like a used Glock 19 or 17, I would be willing to try more stuff.  I have a friend in New Zealand who will literally take a Dremel to about any firearm.  It's been interesting what he's done with some of his guns.  He had the bright idea to carve Maori inspired graphics on a wood stock of a Lee Enfield.  He buggered it up pretty good and ended up having to find a replacement stock.  Many of his stories range from cringe worthy to

Sounds like a neat gun to perform stuff like this on.

Bravo Heavies good job very ingenious! I went the safe route with mine and got the tandemcross bushing. Henry has all kinds of goodies for Mark III's and 22/45's.

Thanks guys.  I may go buy the right parts later, but it should do for now.

I cleaned the bolt and action real good, hopefully that helps with the misfires I was having. If not, then when I order a new firing pin, I'll get the proper bushing.

I was researching barrel changes on those.  Used barrels go for $60 to $80 and it's possible to do it yourself with a vice and other tools.

I wasn't aware those where replaceable without major fitting and tooling.  Interesting.  Where did you read that?
