Very true. I just cannot help but wonder if the true nature is just something classified that all makes sense if we knew. I find that very often certain actions need to have a bit of secrecy behind them but to those not in the know it looks bad.

Do these types of travels need to be cleared with someone higher up first? Technically there is no person higher but there might be some administrative rule in congress.

Define "these types of travel.".  The answer depends on what type you mean.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

She is a Major in the Hawaii Army National Guard in the Military Police Corps. When she was enlisted she did something medical possibly dental related if I recall correctly.

I don't think she went there on her own or with out approval from DOS and POTUS.

The way I see it, she's politically expendable, in case some shit goes wrong.

But does she need approval? The POTUS is not higher than a congressperson, they are separate but equal governing officials.

Democrats turn on Gabbard amid Syria stance

Quote
Top Democrats are taking aim at one of their own, assailing Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for appearing to defend Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad against allegations his regime dumped chemical weapons on a rebel-held area.

Center for American Progress head Neera Tanden, who was a trusted adviser to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean lit into Gabbard on Twitter for her Syria stance.

“This is a disgrace. Gabbard should not be in Congress,” Dean tweeted on Saturday.

That had come to mind.  To me, she really is an enigma.  Not that I follow her really closely or am that well informed about her though. . .

For starters, how about preventing the escalation to WWIII between the US and Russia?

It would be remiss to underestimate her, but I have a tough time seeing her having that kind of sway either way. Seems just like angling to me...

Will anyone go to her town hall?
https://gabbard.house.gov/news/press-releases/rep-tulsi-gabbard-announces-statewide-town-hall-tour

Might be a way to ask questions and attempt to assess her intentions?  Of course that is, IF you can get a serious question in, edge wise, between all the pissed of dimocrats stupid BS.  You know they'll be ranting.

I think the democrats still  have It out for her for not backing the "Chosen One" Hillary, this just gives them more ammunition.

Her views don't strictly toe any particular ideology, but overall she's closest to a Bernie Socialist. I think Zippz is dreaming (or something else) when he asserts that she will come over to the side of 2A rights. She's definitely a civilian disarmament advocate, as would Sanders state publicly if he didn't have to lie about it in order to keep getting elected by the people of Vermont who wouldn't look too favorably on a gun grabber. I filled out the form for an invitation for Gabbard's Hilo "town hall" within two minutes of receiving the email and have my question ready about how she can claim to be fulfilling her oath of office to "support and defend" the Constitution with "true faith and allegiance" while do nothing to facilitate the bearing of arms outside the home and at the same time opposing measures to legalize our rights. Haven't heard a word back from her yet. Maybe my invitation is "in the mail"?

She is now anti gun.

What else do we need to know about her to not vote for her?

She's always been anti gun
I've seen references to her using the "I was in the military, and civilians should not be able to use weapons of war" line
