Any one here have recommendations on where to pick up a good safe. Looking at 36 gun or more. Cause I'm only going to buy once. Not a small one and in 5 years going to need up upgrade. Any deals online. I was told by a friend that Home Depot if you buy online they can ship it to the Home Depot nearest you for free. Any recommendations on brand? Dial vs keypad. I read horror stories about lockouts when keypads fail. Thanks in advance

I suggest that if you get one with a keypad that you also make sure the safe has a key back up.

I have one and it a couple of years old. No problems so far. Knowing that I can still open it if the keypad fails is reassuring.

X-Ring and Security Equipment carry gun safes or can order if your willing to wait.  Stock levels vary.  Costco, Sams Club, Lowes, Home Depot will bring in large safes occasionally but I cannot speak to the quality. 

I ordered a safe from Home Depot.  You need to go into the store, and go to customer service desk to place the order.  There is no shipping charge.  But it will take a month or more to arrive. 

I went to majority of the store on Oahu that sold safe and ended up buying the Mesa 43 gun safe through Home Depot.  Delivery charge not included.  I'm happy with my purchase.
Also most online deals do not include Hawaii.  Unless you delivery to a mainland address and then freight forward yourself.  I looked at this option also. 

Just saw one at Sams Club in town the other night. Not sure on size but believe the price was in the $550 range

Not much offered with the combination lock option. I know someone on maui selling a cannon safari 48 gun safe. But i read multiple places online state that just getting in touch with cannon can be a pain in the @$$. He is only asking 500 for it. Down side is that the interior is only 55" tall. I have 2 guns that at 57ish and really want those locked up. Kinda defeat the purpose to buy a safe and the specific guns i want in it wont fit. And whats the sense of having a safe if its locked and you yourself cant access it. So idk if its a deal and should get it or i just going regret it and wish i spent the funds on something else. I didnt hear much stuff about mesa or stack on. But honestly when i hear stack on a think cheap. i could be wrong. Wish i bought one of those browning safes from sports authority before they closed.

U less your spending $4-5k+ your not getting a safe your getting a locker, most so called budget gun safes can be opened easily and are often nothing more then sheet metal with a fire board filler. They are designed to deter theft not stop it.

I have seen a lot of people converting clauses and such to gun cubards  y lining the wall floor and ceiling with fire reisitent boards and installing a steal lined exter all door with a good frame. Cheaper then a big safe and just as resiliant

I bought one from Costco's internet sales.  The Safe was on sale for $250 off, and shipping was slightly more than that -- curbside drop. 

It's the Rhino Bighorn with an electronic keypad.  No other mechanics.  Had it for 5 years, and so far it's working great.  24 gun listed capacity.  I have about 16 long guns and 12 handguns in it.

For added security, I bought the Liberty Safe monitoring sensor.  Tracks motion, door open/shut and humidity.  It emails and texts me when an event happens.  It can be added to any safe and is battery operated.

Costco Kapolei has the Canon 42 gun safe with digital keypad for $599. ("42 gun" , no friggin way unless you have 42 Ruger 10/22s without optics)  Seemed like OK quality, not great.  Only 490 lbs at that size is a little light.  In my opinion, good enough to beat a casual thief during a smash and grab or a more determined thief with a crowbar for a few minutes.   Quality costs money and weighs a frickin ton so moving it becomes a major issue.  Using movers do it always made me nervous because now they know you have guns (or something the size of guns that is valuable,  ). 

I heard of a brand that is supposed to be good quality but broken down into ready to assemble components so that you can actually move the parts with one friend.  5 Walls and the door assemble in place.  Still gotta pay the damn shipping from the mainland.  Found it, it's called Snap Safe.  Cool idea but you gotta order online.

2nd that Liberty safe monitoring device.  Works great.  Just a little hassle when you have more than one because you can only link one device per email address.  Still, great device.

You might want to consider using a freight forwarder, shipping would be cheaper then from a dealer direct.

Called deans safes and asked for options. They will only deliver to port and that depends on weight of the safe. So just to the port was 200 bucks. No quote yet from matson. I can try call yrc and h20 logistics for freight forwarder

I tried buying an American Security safe from Deans.  They said they wouldn't sell me one because Hawaii already has a dealer.  Aloha key and safe marked up the cost more than double (Shipping and markup shouldn't be that much).  Security equipment hawaii carries them, but sell out frequently.  Give them a call and see what they have to offer.

Try looking into shiptohawaii.com also.  My brother used to to ship bulky items.

Depending on what you want to use it for I might consider two safes. As least if you put two safes in two separate locations then hopefully chiefs won't find and steal both! You won't need 5+ guys to move the smaller ones either. Depends on your needs of course. I am considering purchasing a second safe but going with one of the locker type that is still heavy gauge steel but not as thick as the full on safes.

I second aloha lock and key as well.

Senetics near the closed Kmart in town also carries American Security.
Another thought, anyone have any experience with these?
