Disposal of Offal From a Hunting Kill Made on Privare Property ...? (Read 5303 times)

If I were to kill a pig on my property, and not want to dispose of  the offal on the property, what are the legal options for the disposal of the offal?
I assume that just delivering it to a transfer station in a plastic bag or other container is not an option.

On the Opala website:

REFUSE DROP-OFF -- Prohibited Materials:
Animal carcasses and waste products (take to City landfill, see instructions in Landfill section)

Quote
The Landfill is open to commercial waste haulers and residents.  The rules and procedures for residents using the City landfill are similar to convenience centers.

Effective March 20, 2017, the landfill will only accept inert materials (e.g. dirt, rock, sand, gravel, concrete) and dead animals.

To dispose of dead animals:
You must call to schedule a drop-off. Call 668-2985 Ext. 110. Dead animals must be wrapped or covered when coming to the landfill. Wait to unload until equipment operator informs you of the disposal location. You must be able to unload yourself.

This is for Oahu, obviously.

Thanks Flap_Jackson.
You put me on the right track.
The rules for Hawai'i  County are very similar.
They have to be taken to the actual landfill by appointment only.
I assume that is because they want to cover it immediately.
There may be a charge, but not sure of that.

Not like my neighbors who carved up a large pig to cook and then dumped the whole carcass into my back yard.  :grrr:

Slightly off topic, but I recall a story about when they dumped Tyke's carcass in one of the landfills (I think Waimanalo).  Something about they had to guard the thing until they could properly get it buried from scavengers, which I assume meant wild dogs.  Then something about even after the carcass was buried that the dogs continued to come around.  Dunno if those stories were true.  It was in 1994, so it was a while ago.
