Thousands of demonstrators across US say 'Not My President'

Uh huh. Is too.

Oh, the irony. I bet the people now holding the "Impeach the Liar" signs never made nor held one of those in protest during the previous eight years. I wish I knew the relative percentage of how many of those people are really that stupid and how many are just liars.

This is right but I'm a little bit reluctant to go along with some of it because it's too similar to:

The one thing that makes me feel good about DJT as of now, is that he doesn't have multiple accents or fake ways of speaking like Obama and Clinton (the pantsuit one).   Obama sometimes tries to sound like a deep south negro and at other times like a Rhodes Scholar.  Hillary sometimes tries to sound like Tammy Wynette or Loretta Lynn which is demeaning to the people she's trying to sound like.  Also. during the whole campaign not one person fainted during Trump's speeches that were publicized, unlike Obama.  When that happened and Obama trues to appear like a saint, it makes me wretch.  First time I saw that, it reminded me of a Hitler rally.
And if anyone is worried about DJT acting like a King, let's not forget  this abomination,

Speak for yourself.

As soon as Obunga was selected and started acting like a mongrel dog you let into the house and lifting a leg to piss on everything we own, that went out the window.

Being an olde farte, I had already gone through this with the "Toon.   Young ones might not remember the shame he caused the Presidency.

You would think the American people would wise up that is is quite possible to "elect" complete trash, whether trailer park or ghetto.

They do not change magically.  The Kennedy's had grace, W had a down to earth air.   Carter, Nixon, and Johnson were a joke of course.

Wish I could recall Ike, but too young.

I think my picture might have been misinterpreted, you had to remember the scene from the movie. The other guy had roughly said "he is not my king." It doesn't matter to me if talking about a king or a president, it's more about individuals not acknowledging those who claim to rule over them.

Good movie, but totally different.  The Scottish did not have a right to "elect" their king.  We have a chance to elect our President every 4 years.  Once the results are recorded in the Senate, the President-elect is "everyone's President".  You don't get to throw a hissy fit and refuse to acknowledge his (or her) authority.

It is what it is.  We don't have to like it, but we do have to accept it.

Not all.  It was assumed Clinton would get all 4 since she won the General election in Hawaii.  That's not what ended up happening ....

Officially, Hawaii cast 3 electorals for Hillary, 1 for Bernie.

Technically, it was split 50/50:  2 for Hillary, 2 for Bernie.  One elector said she'd have switched to Bernie if she knew it was allowed (low information elector?)

This, from Obama's "Home State", too!

Quote
Janice Bond, the fourth elector, said she would have voted for Sanders but did
not believe she was able to. She also expressed regret that President Obama, who
was born in Hawaii and is vacationing here with his family, did not attend the meeting.

If you have enough power or are willing to face any potential consequences you can refuse to acknowledge any authority you want. Aside from the president, you could refuse to acknowledge the american government itself. I think some hawaiians do just that, I'm not sure don't quote me on it.

Refusing to acknowledge authority while still
paying taxes,
obeying the vast majority of laws, regulations and codes, and
benefiting from the protections of government and the Constitution
is hypocritical.

Renouncing ones citizenship is the only true refusal to accept or acknowledge the authority our government and its officials have over you.  Short of doing that, it's just a hissy fit.

Quote
A person wishing to renounce his or her U.S. citizenship must voluntarily and with intent to relinquish U.S. citizenship:

1.    appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer,
2.    in a foreign country at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate; and.
3.    sign an oath of renunciation.

Sounds like an EEF-ism.

Ad-hominem. You seem to be fond of those. But that issue aside, you would be completely wrong.

Saying Trump or Obama is not your president makes as much sense as saying laws don't apply to you because you because you identify as a sovereign citizen. The speed limit doesn't cease to apply to you because you claim it doesn't and Trump doesn't stop being your president because you claim he isn't. Maybe some metaphorical argument could be made but literally, it does not hold water,

So for once, you would actually be on the correct side of an issue. Congratulations.

I'm almost certain the vast majority (all?) of people who state "Not My President" know that literally Trump is president of the United States, and that if they are citizens of the United States he is "their" president. It's a (poetic?) statement of their protest against policies (or something) they intensely dislike and thus do not consider Trump to represent their interests, not meant as a literal statement. Whereas my bumper sticker that read "Impeach Obama" was literal (it now reads "Prosecute Obama" and is still meant literally).

Agreed. That is why this is an odd thing to discuss. One side is analyzing the statement one way while the other side is making it a different way.

A lot of biased news articles I have been seeing have been saying "Impeach Trump". Anyway, my argument has been metaphorical from the start. If you claim the speed limit doesn't apply to you then you can drive over it, most people do. Maybe you'll get away with it, maybe you won't. If you don't give a crap about our government then you can do whatever you want until you get thrown in jail. If you have a Scottish army behind you then maybe you can do whatever you want so that your wives don't get taken away from you on the night of your marriage.
