I have LifeLock. I also have free monitoring from all 3 of the reporting agencies.

The free monitoring is very limited. It is worth the price I am paying for it.

LifeLock has notified me once that my personal info was released on the dark web and was for sale. Fortunately, it was very old info that was no longer valid. Is that worth it? I feel better knowing that someone is monitoring the net for breeches. I don't know about you but I have a lot to lose if my personal info is stolen. But then, by that time it is pretty much too late. At least you might hav the opportunity to change passwords or close accounts to limit the damage. I got a 10 or 20 percent discount thru the NRA.

my accountant looked at all of them a couple of years ago and went with the costco one
he's very thorough about researching things, and he said it was the best bang for the buck

I recommend this site to find out if your e-mail address(s) has been compromised.

If it helps you sleep at night, then buy it.  You're paying for piece of mind mainly.

I check my credit reports every few months.  Also check with your insurance carrier if they cover ID theft.  That's if you have a homeowners policy.

Mahalo guys.  Was thinking about going with Lifelock Advantage thru the NRA which is $17.99/mo. but the Costco ID is $13.99/mo. for us regular members.  Costco ID has more features but concerned if their included Av software will clash with my Kaspersky AV, which seems good to me after 6+ years.
I was one of the millions who were notified about the OPM breach.

I just have the LifeLock basic. I didn't really think I needed the other stuff. Here are the additional features of the advantage:

Fictitious Identity Monitoring - I have credit agency monitoring which is supposed to let me know when someone applies for credit under my name
Court Records Scanning - Don't care
Data Breach Notifications - LifeLock has been informing me about data breeches that involve me - Maybe this will inform you of all data breeches
Credit Card Activity Alerts† - My credit card companies provide me with this service
Checking and Savings Account Activity Alerts† - Only feature I think might be of value with advantage plan
Online Annual Credit Report - Can get free once a year
Online Annual Credit Score - Can get free once a year

Did you sign up for the OPM monitoring since you were notified as being involved in the breach?  Coverage is for 10 years and congress may revisit and extend it further.  It's been accurate and provided notifications for me when the property management company pulled their credit check and also when I signed up for the Costco Visa.  I had signed up previously for free accounts at credit.com and quizzle.com.  They are just general overviews but even those seem to work for notifications.  Not sure if any of the 3 have my PII out on the dark web or other databases/lists for sale but I haven't seen anything yet out there when checking.

I did sign up for CSID when first offered but remember that about 4-6 months ago received an e-mail from them asking to re-sign up which I didn't do.  Their coverage although better than nothing is pretty minimal.  Will go on their site to see if i'm still covered.
I'm leaning to the Costco one but don't like their AV which might interfere with my existing one.

Nope just went on and it said that credit monitoring and identity protection by Winvale/CSID expired 12-1-16, but they gave a link to find other coverage.
