for something that isn't up and running.
might be counter-productive, might make them actually start inputting the data? are they? instead of just letting it pile up until it becomes its' own insurmountable labor manpower drain.

I know probably not going to be passed this year, but if there's a hearing then issues can be brought up like why are we paying for something that isn't up and running.  Prep work for the future.

we will find out soon when the registration numbers come out for the year whether it had an effect on gun ownership

I inherited several valuable (and rare) firearms recently and in order for me to register them under my name I had to comply with the Rapback law. I didn't give it a second thought. I wasn't about to find out what punishment I could have faced if I didn't comply and register accordingly. I also am planning to add to my collection in the future so compliance is a must.

It's insulting to me that we get included into a database that was meant to track potential sex predators (teachers, daycare workers, etc.). Mandatory firearm insurance would also be another insult.

So, I'm not sure where you got this idea that all military will need a "cart" to register their "arsenal", but it's entirely bogus for most enlisted.  Some higher ranking officers I have seen carried in half a dozen long guns and about as many pistols, but that's the exception, not the norm.
Why do you think that I think that all military people cart their arsenal? This is fun, your turn...

I don’t see as many military people carting in their arsenal into HPD. I suspect they made the decision to not bring their guns with them to their duty station.

I've seen that. What I referred to are those that use a cart filled with rifle cases. At least in the last six or so times I've been back in the past year...

No, what's fun is watching people make contradictory remarks then try to argue over a single word.  You didn't say how many military you've seen use carts filled with rifle cases in the past, nor do you say by how many that number has dropped.  But you do make the comparison as if it was enough to get your attention.

So, how many would that be?  I understand not "all".  But you made it sound like that was the norm.
