From a source. News beef it up for the owner of the dog. They believed it was a good shoot. The dog lunged for the officer. Won't know till the video and investigation are complete.

The news info relative to the Airport LEO get fired from other agencies crack me up. There are alots of great former and current LEO working part time there.

Can the situation happens without a dog getting kill, yes in my opinion. But I was not there.
Reading the comments on pages like HNN and KHON about using pepper spray and stuff.  I will also say that I wasn't there, but a large dog, not matter how "friendly" their owner says they are in my opinion is certainly a reasonable threat.  That the guy may have had his gun drawn before the actual attack to me isn't necessarily an indicator either way.  Maybe the dog owner/handler threatened the guard.  Who knows at this point.

Every extra post the news does on this story make me believe the dog owners less and less and think that, the proven biased news, are attempting to squash any notion of self defense.   A the very least, by continuous bashing of the security with only hearsay and one side of the story, they are making a fair and unbiased investigation impossible.

When something bad like this happens there are tons and tons of people wanting action, even demanding it!  Next the legislature will make a feelgood law about it that will not even do much to solve any problem, but oh boy they'll get reelected! But daily, there are crimes against PEOPLE, yet not much uproar and demand for change.  If there is some uproar, it's so short lived that those people, the same ones getting elected over and over, don't do squat, or attempt to remove more liberty from the citizenry.

Is that a joke or something?

I meant that there are 2 sides to the story. Obviously we are being saturated with the family's side. We don't know if the dog presented a threat to the officer. We do know that the family was not in control of the dog.

I was listening to one of the AM morning talk stations the other day and the guy was commenting about why did the guy shoot especially when there was a baby nearby who could have suffered hearing damage. So if a dog is about to attack you but a baby might be nearby then the right to defend yourself disappears?

In Hawaii, it does, as well as if the guy was a good boy trying to get his life straightened out, only had 82 prior convictions, and if the guy was a real nice person and would never hurt anyone....

Suppressors would be applicable in this situation.

But if you use a suppressor, then the dog won't have a chance to get out of the way. Wasn't that one of the arguments against the recent suppressor bill?

Which "they"?

The owners who let him out where it was not permitted?  Who didn't make sure he was properly restrained?  Who apparently refused to listen to the guard when told they had to move?

I have no idea.
