I have a 12 gauge mossberg 590 right next to my bed with 5 rounds in it, but not chambered. And i have a hidden AR 15-22LR in my kitchen area by my back door just in case a secondary weapon is needed in an emergency. That is also loaded with a full Mag but not chambered. A small .22 caliber handgun with 5 rounds in the mag, but not chambered. I live with my girlfriend, mom, little sister, and 5' tall father in wahiawa, so i'm basically the only home defense we got here and we've already had a "snooper" walking inside my gated area by my house when he thought nobody was home. Everybody says i'm just paranoid, but when sh*t hits the fan, i want to be ready to defend my family as well as myself. And the .22 in my bathroom is incase somebody forces their way in my house while i'm taking a dump! 100% not a joke... But back to the point of keeping a round in the chamber, i completely agree with it. If somebody, or multiple people force their way into your home while you're there, who's to say you'll have time to get your weapon out of your lock, load it, then figure out what the heck is going on. I always leave multiple rounds in all my firearms, because 1 round might be more dangerous than no rounds. If you fire and miss, then you better load again fast! If you fire and hit, but there's another person with him, they might take a revenge shot at you. But that's just my paranoid thinking, and honest opinion. I always hope for the best but prepare for the worst. NO children in my home as well, so that's a huge factor why i feel comfortable leaving rounds in my firearms.
