The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Reminds me of a day out shooting east of San Diego, north of I-8.

Was carefully sighting in a Ruger Super Redhawk with scope at about 80 yards.  Up pulls a car full of, I dunno, Mexicans is what most would say.

They break out all sorts of short barrel Keltec type stuff and proceed to blaze away into the dirt no more that 10 yard in front of them.  No attempt at precision.  Not one target set up.

Made me fell better knowing they were not into aimed fire.

whynow?

If I owned a LGS, I would only sell these goof balls weak pepperspray and not let them touch real firearms or ammo.  You got the right to sell who you want to if you get  red flags after talking with them for a while.

I used to go shooting often in the Angeles National Forest. There were areas where shooting was allowed. It was fun as it was similar to shooting in the action bays at Koko Head. Only we had even more leeway. Then one day the gangs (mostly Hipanic) started coming around to shoot their guns. They did not practice any kind of safety and eventually started shooting at our targets with bullets flying literally over our heads. It was only a matter of time before before we got hit. So we started going early Sunday mornings to try and avoid the unsafe. But eventually, all the areas appropriate for shooting became so littered with trash from partys and shooters who didn't clean up their trash that it became quite the (BIO) hazard to shoot in these areas. So we started moving out farther and farther toward the edges of suitable government lands and out in Riverside and San Bernadino Counties. Which is a long haul just to go shooting. I would say we would drive 2-3 hours at a minimum and up to 4 hours at the max. That is until the gangs from those counties started showing up at the same areas and trashing the places we could shoot. It became way too dangerous for us to shoot in appropriate areas any more. So besides the occasional camping trip to the desert we no longer could find suitable areas to shoot in. Eventually, the state and counties started prohibiting firearms on their lands so we eventually lost all areas to shoot in.

Maybe someday I will tell you all about one of the most interesting days while shooting out in the Angeles National Forest. It involved a guy in a wheelchair.....

Buddy of mine told me of going out camping and shooting in the desert east of L.A.

Said they were just over a ridge from the road in.  A couple trucks pulled up to the ridge and unloaded.  One of the newcomers yelled down and asked if they minded some rock and roll.  They said no, then the visitors opened up toward the shooting area with full auto fire.

Got to talking with them later, and found they were all LEO.  Dunno how true, but do know when the 1996 or whenever, first CA "assault" weapon ban/registration happened, it was common knowledge that cops were buying up all the AKs in the shops.
