John Oliver is funny and does make some good points. His video on Jared kushner was hard hitting. This net neutrality is one of those issues that crosses political lines.

Umm those go together?.... Mandating that the FCC continue to have the internet a Title 2 just like our electric and water companies makes sure everything is "free".  The internet is a public resource key to survival at this point.  De regulating the internet is not good.  Imagine if anti 2a people ran charter and decide that all gun friendly sites now will be 50% slower cause they disagree with you...

Sure thing.  I actually have background on this cause I work in IT.  Lets see what crazy argument someone makes up against net neutrality.

Any ISP can block any website at any time for no reason what so ever, In fact they already do this with newsgroups and torrent sites.

State, city and federal agency regulate who can place lines and provide service across the country, They decide who can and cant maintain access points and cables.

If Net neutrality was really a thing any isp would be able to operate on any company's lines, Try getting Hawain telecom to your house if only Time Warner servers your area.

All Net neutrality does is take control from private company's and puts it in the hands of the goverment and any time something be comes regulated by the goverment it becomes less free.

This is a market vs government regulation issue. I spent 12 years developing and testing software and hardware in the IT world. Tell me the significance of your experience to this market vs government regulation issue?

Without getting too personal I'm still fairly young, but I currently work as head of an IT department and have finished college with multiple IT backgrounds.

Okay. Guess I don't understand how your experience relates to this market vs government regulation issue? Maybe you can enlighten me.

True and False.  You are leading here.  ISP can block sites changing to a title 1 or staying as title 2 will NOT effect this.  They can leagally block sites because of the law and government orders.  I'm talking about having speed slowdowns for non premium users or companies.  Verizon a large isp which to its shareholders can not lie went on record stating that there would be NO difference in expansion of their network laying lines because of the title 2 status. I would have to do research into the specifics but I do not think there is more if any regulation on the expansion of the network through running lines etc.

Your last statement on hawaiian telcom is utterly false.  Thats not even close to the point.

So let's say we are on opposite sides of this market vs government regulation argument (which we are). I understand that this disagreement involves the Internet. But if you dig down deep to the real nitty gritty here, our arguments are not really going to involve the Internet as much as it is going to involve free market control vs government regulation. Basically what I am trying to say is the bulk of any argument that you and I present are not going to truly involve the Internet. Do you see where I am going?

Yes but this is semi different I am for less regulation on many things but certain things it is needed.  This is one of them.  We as a society can no longer live without the internet.  Its is as important as water and electricity.  We must make sure it is freely available and neutral to all Americans.   Just like the electric company can't arbitrarily limit your electricity for no reason cause your neighbor might be willing to pay more for it.  Now I believe in the free market but because of that drive they seek profits and don't mind if they hurt certain people.  This is not something that can be allowed.

You are proving my point. Your arguments have very little if anything to really do with the Internet as much as they do government regulation. Am I correct?

Only thing that will be useable after nuke since EMP will fry anything else....... :shaka:
