What Guns Do You Regret SELLING?

My DCM Garand which I paid a whopping $121 for

A 1911 commander in 45acp... built on a Caspian frame, hand checkered, hard chromed by checkmate, Colt nickel plated slide, hi-vis sights.
It was flawless.

sigh >:(

I somewhat regret selling my 9mms..  But then I remind myself that I don't mind since I got 45ACPs for them instead.
I think, therefore I am armed.

1986 S&W 586 6" .357.

Bought new.  Sold when I left Oklahoma in 1989.  I think I paid around $400.  Put LOTS of .38 +P rounds through it, and about 1/4 as many .357 rounds.

I like my 686+, but there was something about the older 586 that made it perfect for me.

I once bought a Walther/Smith and Wesson PPK/S for $150 and sold it a few months later for $200. I didn't really like it but it was a pretty cool gun to have. I get a little angry at myself every time I see one for sale because there's no way I'll ever get another one that cheap.

I also sold a Smith and Wesson 459 for $250 once. I made a profit, but I still miss that rattly clanky inaccurate piece of junk for some reason. Not all 459's are bad, mine was just well used.

Ahhhh!!

Was just thinking of this thread after posting on the wished I never bought.

Steyr SSG-69  Never really got a chance to put it through it's paces, but I was moving to Hawaii and needed the money.

Ruger Super Blackhawk.  Had tuned the action and could easily outshoot a buddy with his lever action 30-30 offhand.

Ruger 10-22, early edition with walnut stock.

Sold my old Remington 788 .243 with a Leupold scope on a whim to someone who said they needed that caliber.  Gun would shoot the first 2 shots touching...always.  I know it wasn't me but the gun.  Never got a bolt that accurate until my Tikka..  Miss that old, hard to cycle clunker. :(

Regret selling one of my Inland M1A1's. Paid $!25.00, plus $5.00 tax...put down a $10.00 deposit and paid the $120.00 balance two months later and took it home. I bought three in a two year period many years ago. Still have the other two but I regret letting that one go.

I've only sold one AR.  It was my first AR and I don't regret selling it.

I know many who have regretted selling stuff that would later be much more valuable.  Many bought AKs and SKSs a long time ago when they were cheap by today's standard.  Something like SKSs in the 100-ish range for decent quality ones.  Others have been when they transitioned away from a particular type of firearm.  I have a buddy in Texas who was heavily into 1911s and then got rid of them all.  Now he wants to get back into them, but he also has a tough time spending $800-1500+ for a gun that he used to own at a fraction of that amount.  If you only knew then what you know now.

I've only sold/traded 3 guns.
One was a .357 revolver I sold here, an early-model Ruger Security Six. It was a sweet gun, but the early models had ridiculously flared grips. They only made about 100,000 before changing the design of the grip, so after-market replacements are virtually impossible to find. It was too big for my hands, and the timing was also off just enough that it shaved lead 1 round out of 6. So, no, don't regret selling that one.
One was a double-barrel S&W 12ga. I spent a year trying to shoot trap with that gun, and just could NOT hit the birds. It didn't fit me, I didn't fit it, something was amiss. After a solid year of practice, I gave up and sold it to a family friend. I don't regret selling that one either.
The last was an Izhmash single-shot break-action in 7.62x39. Imported by Remington, I think. It was a cute little gun, but if you used lacquered steel ammo, the casing got stuck every. single. shot. And it really wasn't terribly accurate. My father-in-law REALLY wanted it, so I traded it to him in partial payment for a Santa Fe m1903. And I don't regret the trade.

You're a patient man! So now I'm curious...what was the verdict? Did your family friend have better luck with the shotgun or was he cursing you out every time he shot it? :)

Well, there was a falling out not too long after. The shotgun, and the former friend, are both out of contact. But I like to think that he had better luck with it than I! It shot straight and patterned well, just the two of us could not get along.

Why? If I'd never bought them, I'd never have learned anything about them.
