I see this a lot here in Hawaii. I figure this is the sort of thing that adds greatly to the cost of the building:

"In 2015, the HCDA chose the development team to build the project. The timetable for construction has been pushed back due to challenges assembling financing and processing the development application, according to Gushiken.

Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2018. The work is expected to last 18 months."

Being pushed back two years is a lot and I believe increases the total cost quite a bit from the original bid.

I wonder how much lengthy regulation and bureaucracy adds to the cost of a building.

$1000 for a 300 square foot space? The area is good but that still seems a little high for someone on a small income.

I don't know how much all the bureaucracy adds to the cost but I believe it is a lot.

The problem for me is that a 300sq ft living area is just a crash pad for functioning drug addicts and alcoholics. They do this sort of thing in Los Angeles. It is called SRO Housing. While it creates living spaces for homeless, the homeless seem to still live on the streets as they say it is safer there than in the SRO Housing buildings.

I would be very happy in a 300 sq ft house if I could have a 4000 sq ft workshop attached to it.
