9mm luger Plated bullets...
« on: September 04, 2017, 02:37:44 PM »
OK, so I have used Rainier bullets in the past and used lead loading data, with a slight roll crimp, and a 3/4 level powder charge per spec.  My cases don't expand to seal the chamber once fired, and the outside cases are burnt, which is usually due to a lack of pressure from what I gather.  Rainiers website claims their bullets can be loaded with traditional jacketed load data.  Has anyone used jacketed data for Rainier bullets for loading 9mm Luger?  And would anyone be willing to share their 9mm plated load data?

I've used 4.0 - 4.2grns of Universal and Titegroup with 115gr Xtreme plated bullets.  No problems with function and acceptable accuracy.  I don't have lots of soot on the outside of the case.

I've been buying xtreme plated bullets. Specifically, what bullet do you have?

I use Xtreme plated 9mm almost exclusively. 115HPs I use 4.8gr of HP38. 124RN i use 4.3gr of HP38 (may go 4.4). I don't know my COAL is off the top of my head. When I'm done with the HP38, I have some Titegroup and will likely work up 4.0ish with the 124s.

I use hodgon online data, hornadys book which is one edition old, sierra's book.  I'm just wondering if anyone has loaded plated bullets with jacketed data.

4.2 of tite group, I believe is on the higher end for lead bullets right?

...
I use jacketed data as a guide all the timè.
I just tested 4.0 tg with xtreme 124 plated flat pt. It did not impress me.
They might have been unstable in my glock, so I pushed harder with cfe.
Try search this forum for the gold dot project parts 1 and 2.

Will do.  I saw that topic the other day while searching for posts regarding my question.  But I will definitely take a look at it now

i've also been playing with 135gr ACME RN coated and CFE Pistol
