Ruger’s New Pistol Caliber Carbine

Quote
The Ruger PC Carbine (hey, at least the name’s not gonna confuse anybody) is a “traditional” body style carbine – it’s a non-AR, non-modular setup that looks more like a 10/22 on performance-enhancing drugs.

RugerPCC 5

Speaking of overlap between the PC Carbine and 10/22, the trigger in the PC Carbine is comprised of 80% 10/22 parts which means if you happen to get a PC Carbine and happen to also get some really good quality 10/22 trigger components, you may magically wind up with a PC Carbine that has an awesome bang switch.

Out of the box, the PC Carbine is configured to accept magazines from Ruger’s newest pistol, the Security 9. But plug-and-play mag wells are available for both Ruger SR9 magazines and Glock 9mm magazines. This latter option is going to make the PC Carbine accessible to wide swaths of the existing PCC market who would otherwise have had to commit to proprietary magazines.

I'm interested.  Depends on the local pricing.  I wanted the Ruger PCC when they accepted the P89 and P9(something) handgun mags, but that was back in the mid-90s.

by pistol caliber, i'd assume it to be 22lr, 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp?  maybe 380?  looks cool, and would be nice to have a 9mm carbine plinker but idk, my money is going elsewhere.  I'm guessing it'll be sub $500?

9 mm. At least for me. If it’s not 9 mm, then meh.

Too bad my funds are going for paying off bills. I would be interested in this carbine especially since it accepts Glock mags. I would also wait until some of the gun magazines got their hands on one for testing. Especially Gun-Test Magazine.

I still have a red dot that I'm not using.......

MSRP is 649
Kind of like a 10/22 takedown

I’d be interested if it accepted Ruger pistol mags, but that I can accept Glock 9 mm mags makes is that much more attractive and good value for me.

I hear what you’re saying about testing, but I’d out more stock in your review. Will be waiting.  :P  :geekdanc:

Darn. That’s a little pricey. Hope the going rate is closer to $500.

I have a bunch of Glock 17 mags. Too bad Glock 33rd mags are not legal here. That would add to the fun factor IMHO.

Actually, it has been so long since I bought a new gun, I am going thru the DT's.   If I can ever get out from under all these bills I might just go hog wild and buy a few new guns I have been eyeing.   Considering Ruger's CS reputation I wouldn't hesitate buying a new unproven model (for non SD weapon) as I know they will make it work if for some reason if it didn't out of the box.

DT’s?

Yeah. That it’s a new firearm doesn’t really deter me much. Particularly since this would mostly be a “for fun” gun. It much rather have an MP5, but don’t see myself owning one of those any time soon.  :(

interesting that it's takedown only?  for the 10/22, the takedown models add around $100 to the price (I happen to have one), think I should have just gotten the regular model.

If MSRP is 650, i'd imagine the non-takedown model  would be under $500.

The ruger ar-556mpr msrp is $900, and I think I've seen sales as cheap as around $500 before.

Thanks Stang!

I am pretty impressed with the accuracy from the first video. The two things I would like to see in this PC Carbine is it come out in stainless and I wish that Ruger would produce a bag similar to the one for the 10/22 since it is a takedown. That bag is awesome and carries a lot of extra mags and ammo. I am sure these are things that will come out over time.

Typical Ruger is to release the stainless version awhile after the first version has been on the market awhile

Ahh. I experience that from time to time. I’ve been buying other gear, so I can get my fix that way.

For me, the takedown feature is nice, but I’d also be ok with a standard model.

Thanks for the videos Stang!

That first video had me liking the gun even more. But, how does that guy eat? Haha

This, along with the CZ P10c and Sig P320 is challenging my RapBacl resolve. Might even throw in a snubby 38 revolver in there too.  ;D

I like it, just can't justify the expense right now.  I want to build a green house to grow more of my own food.
