VP Pence will be in Hawaii middle of this week to receive the remains of American soldiers returning from North Korea.

Barely see that being covered on the local news, let alone national news.  Got a brief mention on NPR this morning.

I've visited the POW/MIA facility before it was opened as part of a leadership development program.  That facility is amazing and they have been doing great work to identify remains of service members for a long time (in the old facility and new one).  Am scheduled to have training in that area Wed morning, so will have to keep an eye out for reports of the VP's visit.

I was lucky enough to get a tour of the facility a few years ago with a group of dentites
very impressive work being done there

They were working on some remains from Pearl Harbor as well as some from Punchbowl.  I think it had something to do with new techniques or more recent information and they were able to successfully ID more remains.

They showed us the family briefing/meeting room above the atrium area, as well as other super thoughtful features.  That was pretty moving.

I know it’s Vanity Fair but interesting article about the division Trump is causing in the GOP.

I agree that collusion is not a crime. It's just a really, really bad idea. The probable outcome is that Mueller will release his report before the election. The Trump core 38% will be outraged. The moderates will be outraged. The social democrats will be outraged. The Dems will probably take the House and it will be daily hearings about the Mueller allegations. Nothing will get done and like Trump says, sad.

One of the things I am not happy about with Trump is this threat of government shutdown. I understand that it is just a threat at this time and he can change his mind at any time. It is just that the government never completely shuts down. Only non essential services shut down. So really, it is more of an annoyance than it is a real shut down. I believe this threat plays into the Demoncrats hands. I know his core voters will actually approve of this as I doubt it will hurt Trump himself. But it most certainly will hurt the Republican Party and those Republicans seeking reelection this year. JMHO

Yeah, I heard about that threat last week.  Didn't really think much of it at the time and haven't heard that much about it since, but I haven't been putting that much time into tracking.

But you're right.  Shut downs have long been a bargaining "tool" for many years.  The pattern was every odd year (non-election), the budget fight included shut down threats and it came to that recently.  Then every even year, the budget gets figured out quickly and usually quietly.  It changed recently when things carried over from 2017 into early 2018.  Luckily, I haven't been affected directly since my funding is primarily multi-year.  But when our supports are furloughed, that affects things for sure.  Some even welcome being furloughed as in the past, they were given back pay for those days.  Now that is some BS. . .

All the people who believe in the Russia story already made up their minds before any results will be released.  Even if Mueller himself went on every news station and said there is no collusion, the dems/liberals won't believe it and still hate Trump.

The real story would be if there was any collusion, they would have to investigate every voter in the electoral college who voted for Trump.  Not Trump who has no say.

The world would be so much better if Pence were President.

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/38746493/pence-to-travel-to-hawaii-to-receive-korean-war-remains

What do all these presidents have in common with one another?

Eisenhower
Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Ford
Carter
Reagan
Bush Sr
Clinton
Bush
Obama

None of them were able to get North Korea to repatriate the remains of US service members since the Korean War Cease Fire took effect.  That includes Clinton, who bragged about the agreement he made to prevent NK from developing nukes -- which was just another Clinton-era lie.

It might not seem important to the average US citizen, but for anyone who served or had a member of their family MIA or POW, this is huge.

Thanks, President Trump.

After Trump became president, I felt the same way. But I’m getting used to Trump’s trolling the media. His in your face style. His unfiltered Tweets. I don’t like everything he does. But so far I like what he has done and the way he treats his opposition. He is transforming the presidency in a way I never thought would happen. Don’t get me wrong, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. I am seeing Pence as part of the political elite types now. I doubt we would be where we are now if Pence were president. JMHO

If Trump loses the House this November, I expect him to roll over like a lovelorn puppy. He's in it for himself and only for himself.

Please give details on how you expect him to "roll over."  On what issues? For whom?

So far he's lost a good portion of his personal net worth, most of his clothing line (try buying a Trump tie anywhere but on eBay or Craigs List), and Ivanka is closing her clothing line.

Trump has donated his $100K/quarter President's Paycheck to a government agency since taking office.

He's been attacked and insulted at every turn no matter what he does.

How, exactly, is he "in it for himself?"

I don't expect well thought out responses.  It's obvious you enjoy trolling this thread based on all your other comments.

The world would be so much better if Pence were President.

Based on what?  While I am sure that Pence has had a hand in some of what Trump does, how would this world be a better place if Pence were president?  In a way, I am hoping that Trump being the target of scrutiny, that that allows Pence to work behind the scenes for things, and hopefully things that are good for this nation.  I don't know either way, but I don't get any sense that Pence is doing anything Earth shattering.  Yes, he puts a more refined and gentleman face on the administration, but that's really all perception.  I'm tired of perception, I want results and I believe that's what we're getting with Trump.

I feel the same way.  While I can't really say I'm super proud of Trump, I do think he's done a lot of good for this country.  And yes, he can do a lot better.  Like paying for my mortgage.   :P  ;D

It's obvious you enjoy trolling this thread based on all your other comments.
I honestly don't think he's trolling.  I think this comes from his irrational fear (or maybe love) for Pelosi.  He seems to be truly obsessed with her. . . That and his mind truly works in an, um, interesting way.  Look at his posts on is "misadventures" where he likes to leave a range day with more questions than answers.  I've met him and he's a genuinely nice guy.  Maybe pretty goofy in my opinion, but a nice guy.  Not one that I see purposely trolling anyone.  But yeah, many of his posts make me  ::)
