Devils advocate, what if the only stock you ever fitted was a slide fire stock : that would be the base rate of fire not an increased rate.  It's also not a device or attachment it's a component, it's installation is integral to the operation of the firearm.
They'll finesse either the language of the bill or the "interpretation" of the law to prosecute whoever they want. Them being so brilliant and all and being super-concerned about "public safety", they want to make sure that any evil-doer maniac with the intent of inflicting serious firearm damage on innocent people is prosecuted not just for murder, assault, manslaughter, etc., but for possessing an "increased rate of fire" accessory. Sure, that'll make him think twice.  :crazy:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Well we do still have the due process of law. If a law passes we can fight it through the courts.

New info from the DOJ on the Bump Stock ban as of Thursday, 3/29:

The ATF is canvassing for input to the proposed changes.

Written comments must be postmarked and electronic comments must be submitted by June 27, 2018.

The online system will not accept anything after midnight EST on June 27th.

I don’t believe my submission will make a pinch of difference on this battle, but battles aren’t the war. The powers that be need tangible numbers to show we don’t approve of even the smallest regulation increase.

Get out there and be counted.
