Dick head Dick’s is a POS anyway... wonder if this position of not selling to anyone under 21 could bite them in the ass legally especially if it runs afoul of any local laws? What about military who are under 21?

l just read that a 20 year old was turned away at Dick's trying to buy an AR-15.

If the law hasn't changed, the stores can't arbitrarily set policies to sell to some people and not others who are legally qualified to purchase/own/possess.

Reminds me of that other online gun retailer who reacted similarly and halted the sale of AR15s during the Obama era. Funny, I stopped perusing its website so long ago, I've already forgotten its name.

CTD did that many other times. Jacking up prices at the whif of something.  Sandy Hool and mags was one. There was another major one before that too. Can’t recall which incident, but it was a case of “oh no, here CTD goes again”.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced legislation Thursday to lower the legal minimum age for handgun purchases to 18.

He observes that an age of 18 is the threshold one has to cross to exercise the right to vote, thereby making an additional wait of three more years for Second Amendment rights arbitrary at best.

In other words, an artificially graduated approach to the exercise of constitutional rights is a violation of the very essence of such rights.

Massie’s bill is titled the Second Amendment for Every Registrable Voter Act.

On February 16, 2018, just two days after the Florida school shooting, Rep. Massie urged a repeal of federal restrictions that hinder a school teacher from exercising his or her Second Amendment rights on K-12 campuses. He said, “Gun-free zones are invitations to deranged criminals. Why on earth would we have a federal law to advertise our schools as such? The 1990 law has done absolutely nothing to improve school safety, and should be repealed because it makes schools less safe.”

In 1776 Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”

Massie’s position is simply that “unalienable rights” are being alienated by arbitrary, top-down rules that keep 20-year-old mothers from buying a handgun for self-defense and prevent teachers from carrying a handgun in the classroom for school safety.

He Tweeted:

I just introduced the Second Amendment for Every Registrable Voter Act.  HR 5112, The SAFER Voter Act, would repeal the federal law that prevents voting age adults, 18 to 20, from purchasing a handgun from a FFL.

When I visited Dicks in Vegas, the one behind Fashon Show Mall, I didn't see any firearms for sale at all.  Only ammo.

But from what I've read, Dicks stopped selling semi-auto rifles after Sandy Hook, but their sister company still sold them.  Now the sister company will stop.

It's ok, more business for Bass, Cabelas, and LGS.

    Arrived in WI on the 14th (day of shooting) and visited a few shops later in the week.
The Cabela's there was awesome with its Boats, RV's, world animal hunt exhibits, Gun history museum, and giant freshwater fish tank.

   Went to a Dicks and saw they had only 4 AR's in a glass case for sale, kinda top end Sig and like.
Nothing under $2k.

AR-15s are not the only weapons used in school shootings.  If Dick's wants to avoid selling the next shooter his/her weapon/s, they need to stop selling ALL firearms.  To choose one type is disingenuous and merely symbolic.

I think all gun dealers who refuse to sell to legally eligible gun buyers solely based on age should have their FFL revoked.  They are required to follow federal law.  Unless the legal age is raised by the Federal government, Dick's, Walmart, and whoever else setting an age policy of 21 violates their license.

What's next? Can't sell to white men?  No rifles unless you have a hunting license?  Arbitrary policies like this can't be allowed.  The law is the law.

The speculation in their decision is that it's mostly soccer Mom's who buy sporting equipment for their kids and Dick's makes much more money on them then they do with the shooting crowd.
